The village festival of Le Budrie with Emilia gastronomy, live music, and a walk through the fields
The Festival of the Ears of Corn is the summer festival of Le Budrie, a small hamlet in the Municipality of San Giovanni in Persiceto, in the province of Bologna and in the heart of the Emilia-Romagna plain. Every year, between the end of May and the first days of June, the hamlet's sports field transforms for a few days into the center of village life, with a space dedicated to gastronomy, music, and togetherness.
The very name of the festival recalls the ears of wheat that at this time of year turn the fields of the lower Bolognese region golden: a peasant tradition that the village has celebrated for years with a simple and authentic event, far from large festivals and close instead to the spirit of Emilian village festivals.
The heart of the Festival of the Ears of Corn is undoubtedly the food stall, where village associations serve the most beloved dishes of Emilian cuisine. On the menu, you'll find:
The food stall is the true engine of the festival: the proceeds from the event are used to support the activities of the organizing associations and the community of Le Budrie.
Each evening of the festival is accompanied by live music: dance orchestras, cover bands, and groups ranging from Romagnol liscio to hits of yesterday and today, keeping the dance floor lively until late at night. Alongside the musical performances, the festival offers stalls of crafts and local products and entertainment for all ages.
Among the most cherished events is the Walk of the Ears of Corn, a non-competitive fun run that winds through the fields and country roads around Le Budrie, organized in collaboration with the Podistica Calderara Lippo: a way to experience the agricultural landscape of the plain at its most evocative time of year.
The Festival of the Ears of Corn is organized by local associations โ ASD Tre Borgate, the Pro Loco of San Giovanni in Persiceto, and the Centro Ricreativo e Culturale Amarcord โ with the patronage of the Municipality of San Giovanni in Persiceto. It is an event with free admission, designed for families and for those who want to rediscover the genuine atmosphere of the village festivals of the lower Bolognese region.
The Festival of the Ears of Corn 2026 enlivened the sports field of Le Budrie from June 1st to 5th, repeating the tried-and-tested village festival formula: a food stall with traditional Emilian dishes, live music evenings, and entertainment for all ages, all with free admission.
Among the musical events, on Monday, June 1st at 9:00 PM, the band FunkClub took the stage, making the audience dance with their live renditions of funk hits. The event, organized by the village associations, confirmed its role as a traditional community gathering for Le Budrie in 2026.
The full program of events is published by the organizing associations and the Municipality of San Giovanni in Persiceto in the days leading up to the festival.
The festival is held at the sports field of Le Budrie, a hamlet of San Giovanni in Persiceto (BO), about 7 km from the center of the municipal capital, in the plain northwest of Bologna.
By car from Bologna, reach San Giovanni in Persiceto via the SS568 or the A1 motorway (exit Bologna Borgo Panigale / Modena Nord), then continue towards the hamlet of Le Budrie. Ample parking space is available near the sports field.
Admission to the festival is free. You only pay for what you consume at the food stall. For takeaway crescentine and orders at the food stall, you can call or text WhatsApp to 340.9060544 (orders by 6:00 PM).
The event generally takes place between late May and the first days of June, with evening opening of the stalls and late-night entertainment.
