About Soliera Fair

The Fiera di Soliera is one of the oldest and most beloved traditions in the province of Modena: every year, around June 24th, the historic center of the Municipality of Soliera comes alive for four days of markets, shows, live music, food, and celebrations in honor of the patron saint San Giovanni Battista. Stalls, a funfair, exhibitions, workshops, and concerts in Piazza Lusvardi accompany residents and visitors in an authentic village festival, rooted in Emilian culture and organized by the Municipality of Soliera with the Fondazione Campori.

A centuries-old tradition in the bassa modenese

The Fiera di Soliera is one of the most keenly felt events in the summer calendar of the province of Modena. Historically linked to the patronal feast of San Giovanni Battista, celebrated on June 24th, the event transforms the historic center of the Municipality of Soliera, in Emilia-Romagna, into a large space for popular celebration for a few days. Now in its 171st edition in 2026, the Fair has for generations intertwined the religious dimension, the commercial aspect of the ancient village fair, and the more contemporary one of concerts, shows, and cultural initiatives.

Market, funfair, and Artingegno craft market

The beating heart of the Fair are the stalls that fill the historic center and the village streets, alongside the traditional funfair, the vintage market, and art and craft exhibitions. Among the most characteristic offerings is the Artingegno craft market, curated by the Fondazione Campori, reserved for those exhibiting their works of art and ingenious creations: a journey through creators, hobbyists, and artisans that celebrates handmade items and the inventiveness of the region.

Music and shows in Piazza Lusvardi

The evenings of the Fair revolve around the stage in Piazza Lusvardi, which hosts free admission concerts and shows. The program alternates between major Italian artists, tribute bands, live music with local associations like Arci Rock, comedy, and dance orchestras, culminating in the final evening dedicated to the patron saint. Creative workshops, street performances, games, and activities for children in Via IV Novembre make the event suitable for all ages.

Emilian flavors and vinegar cellar visits

Gastronomy is the absolute protagonist: the Locanda del Tortellone and the Fair's stands offer the symbolic dishes of Emilian tradition, from gnocco fritto to tortellone, from piadine to fritters, accompanied by craft beers and desserts like the famous bombolone della buonanotte. During the Fair, it is also possible to visit the municipal vinegar cellar, where balsamic vinegar, an excellence of the province of Modena, is stored and aged.

The feast of the patron saint San Giovanni Battista

On June 24th, the day of San Giovanni Battista, the community of Soliera experiences the most solemn moment with celebrations in the parish church: holy masses, adoration, distribution of blessed bread, and the solemn mass with city authorities and the awarding of the Premio della Bontร  (Award of Goodness). A day that combines the spiritual dimension, tradition, and celebration, sealing the deep bond between the Fair and the identity of the town.
