About Festival of Songs

The Festival of Songs is an intimate and evocative event held in spring in the woods of Campigno, a hamlet of Marradi (Florence), around the Capanna Dino Campana. Accessible on foot via the CAI 533 trail, the festival weaves together poetry readings, live music, nature hikes, and moments of conviviality in honor of the Marradi-born poet Dino Campana. A two-day experience in the Tuscan-Romagnolo Apennines where the poetic word engages with the landscape.

A poetry festival in the heart of the Apennines

The Festival of Songs is an event that celebrates poetry, music, and nature in the woods of Campigno, a hamlet in the municipality of Marradi, in the province of Florence, nestled in the heart of the Mugello and the Tuscan-Romagnolo Apennines. The heart of the festival is the Capanna Dino Campana, a mountain hut immersed in a beech forest that becomes, for a weekend, a meeting place for hikers, poets, musicians, and mountain lovers.

In the footsteps of Dino Campana

The festival is a tribute to Dino Campana (1885-1932), the visionary poet born in Marradi and author of the famous Canti Orfici (Orphic Songs), first printed in 1914 at the local Ravagli printing house. These places, made of chestnut and beech woods, trails, and streams, are the very ones Campana walked and which nourished his wandering poetry. The event is promoted by the Centro Studi Campaniani di Marradi, the association founded in 1989 that preserves the memory and work of the Marradi poet.

Between hiking and the poetic word

The Capanna Dino Campana can only be reached on foot, along the CAI 533 trail starting from Campigno: a scenic route that is an integral part of the experience. The program alternates between moments of hiking in nature, poetry readings accompanied by live music, stargazing, and conviviality around the fire. It is an authentic and participatory festival, far from mass tourism, which focuses on sharing, listening, and the deep bond between humanity, art, and the territory.

A network of local volunteers

The event thrives thanks to the commitment of various local groups: in addition to the Centro Studi Campaniani, the Gruppo Alpini di Marradi, the Club Alpino Italiano of Faenza, and the enthusiasts of MTB Marradi collaborate. Participation is supported by voluntary donations collected on-site, reflecting the community and volunteer spirit that drives the event. For Marradi, a small village in the Apennine Tuscany, the Festival of Songs is a way to rediscover its literary and natural heritage.

Festival of Songs — edition 2026

The 2026 edition of the Festival of Songs took place on May 16 and 17 at the Capanna Dino Campana in Campigno (Marradi). Two days of poetry readings, live music, stargazing, nature walks, and conviviality around the fire, in tribute to the poet Dino Campana.

The 2026 edition of the Festival of Songs was held on May 16 and 17 at the Capanna Dino Campana in Campigno, a hamlet of Marradi (Florence). The event confirmed its formula as a festival spread across the nature of the Apennines, accessible on foot along the CAI 533 trail. Between poetry readings accompanied by music, a night vigil with stargazing, and forest walks, the event wove together word, sound, and landscape in the spirit of Dino Campana's poetry.
