A week of nature, culture, music, and community in San Godenzo, on the edge of the Foreste Casentinesi National Park
The Florentine Mountain Festival is the summer event series that brings the mountains northeast of Florence to life, shared between the municipalities of Londa and San Godenzo. Following the weeks dedicated to Londa, the festival moves to San Godenzo with an intense program spread across the village and its surrounding hamlets: a single week that packs music, nature, culture, traditions, and community moments into one calendar.
The municipality of San Godenzo, in the Province of Florence (Tuscany), sits at an altitude of over 400 meters on the edge of the Foreste Casentinesi, Monte Falterona and Campigna National Park, one of the most precious natural environments in the entire Apennine range. It is in this setting of ridges, beech forests, and ancient trails that the festival offers its experiences: loop treks and hikes, forest immersions, visits to historic sites like Villa Del Campana and the ancient abbey, and plenty of outdoor activities.
The program for the San Godenzo week brings together different generations and artistic languages. Alongside evening concerts in the square, the schedule features scenic hikes and treks suitable for families, participatory theater performances, children's workshops, and moments dedicated to the folk traditions of the Tuscan-Romagna Apennines, such as the songs and dances of the Maggiaioli. There are also cultural talks on nature, sustainable development, and local knowledge, community dinners featuring local products, and major Saturday night events, ranging from the Aperiart with crafts and street food to parties with DJ sets at the municipal pool.
The festival is organized by the municipalities of Londa and San Godenzo with coordination by LAMA Impresa Sociale and the collaboration of local Pro Loco associations and cultural entities. It is supported by NextGenerationEU and PNRR Culture funds, as part of a project addressing the economic and social challenges typical of inland areas by focusing on participation, hospitality, and new forms of work: during certain days, it is possible to camp for free and use coworking spaces.
Almost all events are free and open to the public. Exceptions include dinners, aperitifs, and certain special experiences, which require booking and a small contribution. The San Godenzo stage is an ideal opportunity for families, hikers, music lovers, and curious travelers looking to discover the Florentine mountains away from the most crowded tourist circuits.
The San Godenzo stage of the Florentine Mountain Festival 2026 takes place from July 13 to 19, 2026, between the village and its hamlets. An intense week that, as per tradition, combines nature, culture, music, performances, folk traditions, and community moments, with widespread and largely free events.
Announced events include the loop hike from Castagneto, also designed for families, the participatory show "VERDI GAME. Tutto nel mondo รจ burla!" dedicated to Giuseppe Verdi, and the "Architetture Sonore" concert by the Corale Santa Cecilia of Borgo San Lorenzo, followed by a party with a DJ set at the municipal pool. There will also be space for the songs and dances of the Tuscan-Romagna Apennines with the Maggiaioli of San Godenzo and the Aperiart, featuring crafts, workshops, street food, and a concert. The full program is being published on the official website.
