The traveling exhibition on traditional costumes of the Valli di Lanzo
On Saturday, August 1st and Sunday, August 2nd, 2026, the town of Pessinetto, in the Province of Turin, hosts the "Traveling Exhibition of Costumes and Pendants," the event that this small village in the Valli di Lanzo is dedicating to the 2026 Festival of Knowledge. The initiative celebrates local traditional costumes through a traveling route that creates a dialogue between clothing, pendants, ornaments, and the historical memory of the Piedmont mountain territory.
The Pessinetto exhibition is one of fifteen stops on the Festival of Knowledge, the cultural project promoted by the Unione Montana Valli di Lanzo, Ceronda e Casternone and unveiled in May 2026. From late May to late September, fifteen municipalities โ including Lanzo Torinese, Germagnano, Balme, Ala di Stura, Cantoira, Chialamberto, Coassolo Torinese, Corio, and Pessinetto itself โ each propose a dedicated event, together building a "network of widespread culture" that spans the entire valley territory.
The stated goal is to collect, promote, and disseminate the body of knowledge that characterizes the Turin mountains: gastronomic traditions, history, nature, Celtic culture, craftsmanship, and environmental sustainability intertwine in a unique calendar, designed as an intergenerational transmission of knowledge.
The theme chosen by Pessinetto is that of traditional costume. The exhibition guides the visitor through the fabrics, garments, and pendants that have defined the identity of families in the Valli di Lanzo, recounting the relationship between ornamentation, celebration, and daily life in the Piedmontese mountains. The "traveling" nature of the display invites viewers to see the costume not as a static museum object, but as a living testament to a community that continues to travel through time.
Lying along the Stura di Lanzo river, Pessinetto is a true balcony over the Graian Alps, a starting point for hikes and a summer holiday destination. Its participation in the Festival of Knowledge confirms the Valli di Lanzo's commitment to safeguarding and networking its tangible and intangible heritage, offering residents and visitors an opportunity for slow and authentic discovery.
On August 1-2, 2026, Pessinetto participates for the first time in the Festival of Knowledge with the "Traveling Exhibition of Costumes and Pendants," a traveling exhibition route on the traditional costume of the Valli di Lanzo. The event is part of the widespread calendar (May-September 2026) promoted by the Unione Montana Valli di Lanzo, Ceronda e Casternone, which involves fifteen municipalities in the territory. Details regarding times and locations of the exhibition will be communicated by the organizers.
Pessinetto can be reached by car from Turin along the SP1 road of the Valli di Lanzo (approx. 45 km). By train, it is served by the Turin-Ceres railway line, with a stop in Pessinetto.
The initiatives of the Festival of Knowledge are designed as moments of open community participation. For exhibition opening hours, exact locations, and access methods, it is recommended to consult the website of the Unione Montana Valli di Lanzo, Ceronda e Casternone and the Municipality of Pessinetto.
