Cerreto di Spoleto and the value of water

Springs, the Nera river, and the thermal baths of Bagni di Triponzo: water has always been an identifying element of Cerreto di Spoleto, in the province of Perugia, in the heart of Valnerina. The Festival delle Acque, promoted by the Municipality in collaboration with Legambiente Umbria, was created to enhance this heritage and to reflect on the protection and sustainable management of water resources.

Conferences, excursions, and outdoor sports

The festival unfolds over two days that alternate moments of in-depth discussion and outdoor activities: the conference on safeguarding aquatic ecosystems and the sustainable rebirth of the territory, round tables and thematic workshops, nature excursions, mountain bike routes, tastings of typical products, and multimedia screenings. An opportunity to discover Valnerina from the perspective of its river.

The Nera Fly Fishing Show

Since the third edition, the festival has integrated the Nera Fly Fishing Show, an initiative promoted by Legambiente Umbria dedicated to fly fishing as a tool for environmental conservation. Practical demonstrations, artificial fly tying by Italian and foreign artisans, the Contest Fly Tying Nera River (tying flies inspired by the insects of the Nera river), and a trade fair dedicated to sustainable fishing, with the participation of major regional and national clubs, take place on the river and in the exhibition spaces.

When and where

The festival is held in autumn (in recent years in October) in Cerreto di Spoleto, between the town center and the banks of the Nera river. Admission to the activities is generally free.
