The national responsible tourism festival stops in the villages of Valnerina
IT.A.CÀ (whose name plays on 'Ithaca' and 'It-acà', 'stay here') is the main Italian festival of responsible tourism, held annually in numerous regions. The Valnerina and Valle Spoletana stage takes place in mid-summer in the mountain villages of Umbria and offers a Franciscan interpretation of the territory, following in the footsteps of Saint Francis as a promoter of peace between man and nature.
Among the participating locations is Mucciafora, a hamlet of Poggiodomo, in the province of Perugia: the least inhabited municipality in Umbria, today also a 'Reading Village'. The day dedicated to Mucciafora combines walks through the historic center, storytelling exhibitions where the community displays objects from family traditions, and tastings of local flavors in Piazza dei Caduti. The stage is organized by the Terre di Pietra e d'Acqua cultural park with the support of the Pro Loco Turistica of Mucciafora.
The festival promotes sustainable mobility (use of public buses) and the adoption of the 'Traveler's Charter', which translates the principles of Laudato si' into concrete actions of environmental and social respect. An experience designed for those seeking authentic tourism, away from mass circuits.
The 2026 edition of IT.A.CÀ is the eighteenth and has the theme 'Geographies of Peace'. The national responsible tourism festival takes place from June to October in eight regions with sixteen stages; the one for Valnerina and Valle Spoletana is scheduled from August 7 to 23, with a Franciscan reading of the theme, following in the footsteps of Saint Francis as a promoter of peace between man and nature.
Among the participating locations is Mucciafora (Poggiodomo): the day dedicated to the village traditionally includes a walk through the historic center of the 'Castle', the storytelling exhibition RI-guarda noi with objects from the community's family traditions, and a tasting of local flavors in Piazza dei Caduti.
The Valnerina and Valle Spoletana stage of IT.A.CÀ 2026 runs from August 7 to 23 in several villages (including Spoleto, Sant'Anatolia di Narco, Ceselli, Ruscio, and Mucciafora). The detailed program for Mucciafora's day will be published by the organizers about a month in advance. The established structure for the day in Mucciafora includes:
