Villanova's autumn festival of traditions, market, and seasonal flavours
The Estate di San Martino is that brief return of good weather that, according to tradition, accompanies November 11th. In Villanova di Pordenone, a district of the Friulian capital, these days become the occasion for a festival celebrating rural traditions and autumn flavours, organized by Pro Loco Pordenone at the "Armando Lupieri" Sports Centre.
It is a festival that smells of the season: new wine, chestnuts, and autumn sweets provide the backdrop for a weekend dedicated to farming heritage, craftsmanship, and conviviality.
Among the offerings are the Christmas market and local craft exhibitions, the evocative display of vintage agricultural tools that tells the story of past farm work, and photographic and vintage exhibitions with clothes and memories from bygone eras. There are also demonstrations of ancient crafts, such as glassblowing by masters from Murano.
The Estate di San Martino is also designed for children, with workshops, educational activities, and moments dedicated to them. Completing the program are walks and bike rides—including inclusive options—that invite visitors to enjoy the last warm days of autumn outdoors.
The festival is a fine example of the vitality of Friulian Pro Loco associations and their connection to the territory. Villanova, on the outskirts of Pordenone, welcomes visitors for a weekend of tradition and good food, not far from the city centre, which is a candidate for Italian Capital of Culture 2027.
The 2026 Estate di San Martino takes place from November 13 to 15 at the Armando Lupieri Sports Centre in Villanova di Pordenone, organized by Pro Loco Pordenone. Among the specialties: new wine, chestnuts, and seasonal sweets.
The event unfolds over three days with the opening of the market, exhibitions, and food stalls. Among the offerings:
