On June 21st, the piano resonates through the halls of the State Archaeological Museum
The Festa della Musica is the event that every June 21st, on the occasion of the summer solstice, enlivens hundreds of cities in Italy and Europe with widespread and often free concerts. In Arcevia, a village in the Province of Ancona and one of the most picturesque in the Marche hinterland, the event finds an exceptional venue: the State Archaeological Museum, set up in the spaces of the ancient former Convent of San Francesco along Corso Mazzini.
The common thread of the 2026 edition is the concert titled "In a landscape: between minimalism and soundtracks", performed on piano by musician Alessia Mortaloni. The program explores some of the most beloved voices in contemporary minimalist and film music: from the ethereal atmospheres of John Cage to the repetitive structures of Philip Glass, from the intimate pages of Max Richter to the soundtracks of Michael Nyman, and the lyricism of Ludovico Einaudi.
The choice of repertoire naturally dialogues with the venue: minimalist music, made of repetitions and slow transformations, accompanies the observation of the museum's collections and invites a slow, meditative experience, balancing ancient art and contemporary sound.
The State Archaeological Museum of Arcevia preserves important evidence of the prehistory and history of the Vallesina and Misa valley territories, from the Neolithic to the Roman era. For the Festa della Musica, the museum will have an extraordinary daytime opening, allowing the public to combine a visit to the exhibition halls with listening to the concert.
The Festa della Musica in Arcevia is a precious opportunity to discover a Marche village far from the major tourist routes, experiencing the longest night of the year with the soundtrack of the piano.
