The night of love in the village of Arcevia, with music, aperitifs, and the midnight kiss
La Notte Romantica nei Borghi più Belli d'Italia (The Romantic Night in the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy) is the grand national festival dedicated to love, promoted by the Association I Borghi più Belli d'Italia. On a single evening, close to the summer solstice, hundreds of villages across Italy light up simultaneously to celebrate love and the beauty of their historic centres. In Arcevia, a splendid hilltop village in the province of Ancona, in the Marche region, the initiative is organised by the Pro Loco Arcevia and enlivens the heart of the town with a programme spread across its squares, alleys, and venues.
Arcevia is part of the prestigious circuit of 'I Borghi più Belli d'Italia' and is one of the municipalities in the Marche region that participates in the Notte Romantica every year. Its historic centre, perched at over 500 metres above sea level and overlooking the gentle hills of the Ancona hinterland, provides the ideal setting for an evening dedicated to romance: panoramic views, medieval and Renaissance architecture, and intimate atmospheres perfect for couples and families.
The heart of the event in Arcevia is the Romantic Aperitif in Piazza Garibaldi, which opens the evening, accompanied by an itinerant unplugged music flash mob through the village streets. Among the gastronomic offerings, the dessert 'Pensiero d'Amore' stands out, the symbolic dessert of the national event, served in participating restaurants and bars. The evening continues with candlelit dinners and special menus in the venues of the centre and its hamlets, culminating in the traditional midnight kiss, a key moment shared simultaneously by all the Italian villages.
La Notte Romantica is not just a local festival; it is a collective event involving over two hundred villages throughout Italy, which has also crossed national borders thanks to the international network of 'The Most Beautiful Villages of the World'. For Arcevia, it represents a precious opportunity to enhance its historical heritage and welcome visitors on one of the most evocative evenings of the year. An invitation to rediscover, hand in hand, the magic of a village in the Marche suspended in time.
The 2026 edition of La Notte Romantica, the eleventh of the national event, is set for Saturday, June 20, 2026. Arcevia participates as a certified village in the 'I Borghi più Belli d'Italia' circuit. As per tradition, the Arcevia evening includes the romantic aperitif in Piazza Garibaldi, itinerant unplugged music, candlelit dinners in participating restaurants with the 'Pensiero d'Amore' dessert, and the collective midnight kiss. The final programme, including times and participating venues, will be published by Pro Loco Arcevia closer to the event.
Arcevia can be reached by car from the A14 motorway exit at Senigallia, continuing along the SP360 Arceviese towards the hinterland (about 50 minutes). The nearest train station is Senigallia, on the Adriatic line, from which you can continue by bus or car. The reference airport is Ancona-Falconara.
The event takes place on the evening of June 20, 2026, with the aperitif starting around 7:00 PM and culminating at the midnight kiss. Participation in the events in the square is generally free; dinners and special menus in participating restaurants are paid, with reservations recommended.
It is advisable to book restaurants in the historic centre well in advance and wear comfortable shoes for walking through the village alleys. For the definitive programme, please refer to Pro Loco Arcevia.
