Moruzzo's autumn between Oktoberfest-style beers, chestnuts, and Friulian flavours
The Festa della Birra e delle Castagne in Moruzzo, organised by the Pro Loco Moruzzo, is the autumn event that brings the spirit of Oktoberfest to the morainic hills of Friuli. Over two weekends in November, under a heated marquee, large mugs of German beer meet the most authentic flavours of Friulian tradition, in a festival that combines Mitteleuropean conviviality and local roots.
The stars are the Bavarian-style beers and chestnuts, presented in dishes ranging from chestnut gnocchi with butter and sage to roasted chestnuts, accompanied by local wines like Ribolla. Friulian and Mitteleuropean specialities are also featured: Viennese cutlet, polenta with frico, fish dishes prepared by alpine volunteers. It's a delicious offering that showcases the Friulian autumn in all its nuances.
The programme alternates DJ sets and concerts, with cover bands playing traditional Friulian and national music, with outdoor activities such as the "Moruzzo a 6 Zampe" dog walk and a surprise walk, as well as morra and table football tournaments. It's a community festival that closes the beautiful season in the Municipality of Moruzzo (Province of Udine), amidst the rolling hills northwest of the provincial capital.
The Festa della Birra e delle Castagne 2026 renews in Moruzzo the autumn appointment with German beers, chestnuts, and Friulian cuisine, under the heated marquee. As tradition dictates, the event takes place over two weekends straddling late October and November, with musical evenings, walks, and tournaments.
The precise dates will be announced by Pro Loco Moruzzo on their official channels in the weeks prior.
