A village festival on the Renon plateau

The Fest der Musikkapelle Oberinn is the summer celebration organized by the brass band of Auna di Sopra (Oberinn), one of the villages within the vast municipality of Renon (Ritten), the famous sunny plateau overlooking Bolzano in the South Tyrol region. It is a quintessential local tradition: a Dorffest where the entire community gathers around its own Musikkapelle for a day of music, good food, and outdoor conviviality.

Brass music and guests

The heart of the event is brass music (Blasmusik), the great wind-instrument tradition of South Tyrol. The Musikkapelle Oberinn, founded in 1892, is one of the six historic bands of the Renon plateau and opens its doors to various guest ensembles invited to perform throughout the day, creating a sequence of marches, polkas, and folk music that lasts from noon until evening.

Gastronomy and family

Alongside the concerts, the festival offers grilled specialties and typical South Tyrolean cuisine, with beer and drinks served by the band's volunteers. A bouncy castle is set up for children, making the event an ideal destination for families. Admission is free, and the atmosphere is that of a genuine mountain community festival.

Where and how

The festival takes place at the Festplatz in the center of Auna di Sopra (Oberinner Straße 13), at an altitude of about 1,200 meters. The venue is accessible by bus via line 167 from Collalbo (Klobenstein), getting off at the Oberinn stop, or by car driving up to the plateau from Bolzano. It is a perfect opportunity to combine exploring Renon—famous for its earth pyramids and historic rack railway—with an authentic South Tyrolean village festival.
