Three weeks of concerts, tradition, and local flavors in the heart of the Agrigento hinterland
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
In the heart of the Agrigento hinterland, the Municipality of Ravanusa (Province of Agrigento, Sicily) dedicates one of its most anticipated events to the Ferragosto period. The Ferragosto Ravanusano is not just a single event, but a full-scale summer festival that transforms the historic town squares into open-air stages for nearly three weeks. Music, entertainment, gastronomy, sports, and tradition alternate evening after evening for both residents and visitors.
The musical program is the heart of the festival, featuring free concerts that bring national and Sicilian artists to the city. Evenings are spread across Piazza Madrice, Piazza 1 Maggio, and Piazza Crispi, alternating between major concerts, DJ sets, piano bars, and cabaret shows. Alongside the music, there are open-air cinema screenings and sports activities, creating a lineup designed for all ages.
Among the most characteristic events is the FuataFest, a festival celebrating the fuata, a traditional Ravanusa specialty rooted in the art of baking. In Piazza 25 Aprile, set up as a food area, the scent of wood-fired ovens, folk music, and children's entertainment accompany an evening entirely dedicated to local flavors, blending gastronomic tradition with more contemporary offerings.
The most symbolic moment is the Palio della Madonna del Fico, a historical re-enactment that returned to Ravanusa after more than a hundred years of absence. A historical pageant, flag-wavers, folk groups, marching bands, traditional Sicilian carts, and horses parade through the town streets in a collective tribute to the community's devotion and roots. During the peak days of the festival, the parade of Sicilian carts—a symbol of the island's craftsmanship and folklore—also takes place.
Promoted by the Ravanusa municipal administration together with local associations, the Ferragosto Ravanusano is, above all, a community celebration: an opportunity to enjoy the squares, rediscover traditions, and welcome those returning to town for the summer. Through concerts, food festivals, and re-enactments, the event tells the story of an Agrigento village that makes Ferragosto its most anticipated collective gathering.
At present, the Municipality of Ravanusa has not yet released the official dates and program for the Ferragosto Ravanusano 2026. Based on previous editions, the festival is expected to take place in August, featuring concerts, the FuataFest, and the Palio della Madonna del Fico. The detailed program will be published on the official channels of the Municipality and the organizing associations.
Ravanusa is located in the hinterland of the Province of Agrigento, Sicily. By car, it can be reached via the SS115 and the provincial roads connecting Licata, Campobello di Licata, and Canicattì. The most convenient train station is in Canicattì, from where you can continue by bus or car.
Events are held in the main squares of the historic center: Piazza Madrice, Piazza 1 Maggio, Piazza Crispi, and Piazza 25 Aprile.
Most events, including the concerts in the squares, are free of charge.
