The Saint Anthony of Padua feast in the Favari hamlet of Poirino
The Favari Patronal Feast is one of the most anticipated summer events in the hamlet of Favari, a small residential area in the municipality of Poirino, in the province of Turin (Piedmont), located halfway between Poirino and Villastellone. Every year, around the June 13th anniversary, the community gathers to honor its patron saint, Saint Anthony of Padua, for a few days of music, faith, gastronomy, and fun. It is a classic Piedmontese village festival, where religious tradition blends with a food festival and an evening entertainment program.
The spiritual heart of the festival is the solemn procession in honor of Saint Anthony, which winds through the streets of the hamlet, and the moments of prayer at the Church of Saint Anthony, which also hosts the popular "Corali in festa" choir festival. Surrounding this devotional core is the secular program, featuring musical evenings, dancing, and community-wide initiatives, such as the Palio dei Borghi with its grand finale and characteristic historical pageant.
One of the main attractions of the festival is its food court, open every evening, which offers traditional specialties from the Poirino area. Signature dishes include tench and eel, freshwater fish deeply rooted in the culinary culture of the local fishpond region, as well as the ever-popular grilled meat and many other options. The festival kitchen is run by committee volunteers and offers a great opportunity to enjoy local recipes in a friendly, convivial atmosphere.
Evenings in Favari are brought to life by live music, tribute bands, nights dedicated to Sanremo Festival songs, and dance events with orchestras and DJs. For families and children, there is a funfair and entertainment activities like the "Grande Scatolata" (prize box game). The atmosphere is that of a typical Piedmontese summer village festival, where multiple generations come together to celebrate.
The festival is generally held in the second half of June, coinciding with the patron saint's feast day. In 2026, the celebrations in the Favari hamlet of Poirino are scheduled, tentatively, from June 12th to 20th, with the main events taking place around the anniversary of Saint Anthony and a possible final social gathering in the following days.
