Two days of games, workshops, and entertainment for families in the heart of Paganico
The Family Festival is the event that, every spring, brings the village of Paganico to lifeโthe most populous hamlet in the municipality of Civitella Paganico, in the province of Grosseto, in the heart of the Tuscan Maremma. The event was created to mark the International Day of Families, which falls on May 15th, and is promoted by the Municipality of Civitella Paganico together with the Paganico Natural Shopping Centre, in collaboration with local businesses and associations.
The heart of the festival beats between Piazza della Vittoria and Piazza del Leccio, the most vibrant spaces in the historic centre enclosed by the ancient 14th-century walls of Paganico. For two days, the squares are transformed into a large, sprawling playground: play areas for little ones, creative workshops, musical moments, and shows designed to engage both adults and children.
The Family Festival is also an opportunity to discover Paganico, an ancient fortified village whose walls were started in 1295 and completed in 1335. The historic centre, accessible through four gates, preserves the atmosphere of the medieval villages of the Sienese Maremma. The territory of Civitella Paganico, straddling the lands of Siena and Grosseto, is also famous for the nearby Petriolo thermal baths and for a hilly landscape rich in history, from Etruscan and Roman remains to the villages of the Grand Duchy of Tuscany.
This is a deeply community-oriented event, free and open to all, which puts families, children, and village life at the centre. It is the ideal occasion to spend a spring weekend in the Maremma, enjoying games, creativity, and good food, immersed in the typical hospitality of small Tuscan towns.
The 2026 edition of the Family Festival was held in Paganico on Saturday, May 16th, and Sunday, May 17th, for the International Day of Families. Two days dedicated to children and parents, with play areas, creative workshops, comedy shows, music, and moments of conviviality between Piazza della Vittoria and Piazza del Leccio. The event was also accompanied by a vintage car and motorcycle rally on Friday, May 15th, and Saturday, May 16th.
