About EXPOSED

EXPOSED Turin Photo Festival is a major photography event that has been bringing Turin to life every spring since 2024. Curated and organized by CAMERA – Centro Italiano per la Fotografia under the artistic direction of Walter Guadagnini, the festival spreads exhibitions, talks, and special events across the city's museums, galleries, and urban spaces. The 2026 edition, titled "Laid Bare," featured eighteen exhibitions by renowned Italian and international artists, cementing the Piedmontese capital's status as a European hub for visual arts.

A festival that puts photography at the heart of Turin

EXPOSED Turin Photo Festival is the premier photography event in the Piedmontese capital, launched in 2024 to restore the city's historical role in the world of imagery. Curated and organized by CAMERA – Centro Italiano per la Fotografia and directed by Walter Guadagnini, the festival takes place every spring in the city of Turin, Piedmont, involving major cultural institutions alongside independent venues.

"Laid Bare": the theme of the 2026 edition

The third edition, held from April 9 to June 2, 2026, focused on the theme "Laid Bare": an invitation to look within ourselves and beyond appearances, questioning the relationship between identity and representation, body and image, the visible and the invisible. This common thread ran through the eighteen exhibitions in the program, covering portraiture, self-portraiture, nudity, and body storytelling.

Eighteen exhibitions spread across the city

The festival has no single venue: exhibitions are distributed among museums, galleries, archives, and outdoor spaces, turning Turin into a vast photographic trail. Participating venues in 2026 included:

  • CAMERA – Centro Italiano per la Fotografia, featuring Toni Thorimbert's "Donne in vista";
  • State Archives of Turin, with "Laid Bare" (Wilhelm von Gloeden, Carlo Mollino, Auguste Belloc) and "Self Exposed" by Ralph Gibson;
  • Gallerie d'Italia – Turin, with Diana Markosian's "Replaced";
  • National Museum of the Italian Risorgimento, with Paola Agosti's "Viva le donne!";
  • Regional Museum of Natural Sciences, with Bernard Plossu's "Dopo l'estate";
  • Circolo del Design, featuring Dean Chalkley;
  • the Crypt of San Michele Arcangelo, with photographs by director Yorgos Lanthimos.

These were complemented by numerous outdoor installations along streets, arcades, and public squares, ranging from Paolo Ventura to Karla Hiraldo Voleau, as well as the collective project "Metamorphosis".

A city-wide event

Beyond the exhibitions, EXPOSED offers talks, meetings with authors, and special events, with a packed calendar accompanying the public for nearly two months. The event is supported by the City of Turin, the Piedmont Region, the Turin Chamber of Commerce, and major local foundations, reflecting the festival's deep roots in the city's cultural life.

Why visit

EXPOSED combines big names in world photography, contemporary research, and a distributed format that invites you to rediscover Turin by walking from one venue to the next. It is the perfect opportunity to experience the city in spring and immerse yourself in the language of photography, capable of capturing the present with a critical and poetic eye.
