The South Tyrolean creative craft market in the church square of Lagundo
The Event Markt SelberGMOCHT is the Lagundo stop of the well-known South Tyrolean circuit of creative craft markets SelberGMOCHT, which enlivens various squares across South Tyrol throughout the year. The name, in the South Tyrolean dialect, literally means "made by oneself": it is the promise of a market where every object is handmade with care and passion, and offered directly by the creator. In Lagundo (Algund), a charming town in the Merano area in the Autonomous Province of Bolzano, the event takes place on the scenic church square (Kirchplatz), in the town's pedestrian zone.
The SelberGMOCHT circuit brings together about ninety South Tyrolean producers and artisans who present a wide variety of unique creations. Among the most characteristic offerings are:
Carpenters, seamstresses, beekeepers, painters, and chocolatiers transform the square into an open-air showcase of South Tyrolean ingenuity and craft tradition.
SelberGMOCHT is more than just a market: it is a festive day for the whole family. Alongside the stalls, there is live music and food service with specialties prepared on-site, perfect for a peaceful stroll among the stalls with a gourmet break included. Admission is free, and the setting of the pedestrian square makes the visit pleasant even with children.
Lagundo, the "garden village" at the gates of Merano, is a renowned destination for its mild climate, vineyards, and cycling and walking paths along the Adige river and the Via Claudia Augusta. A stop at the SelberGMOCHT market can easily be combined with a walk in the historic center or along the Merano promenades, blending artisanal shopping, nature, and good food into a single day.
On Saturday, May 9, 2026, the church square of Lagundo/Algund hosted a new edition of the Event Markt SelberGMOCHT, from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Artisans from the South Tyrolean circuit filled the pedestrian zone with handmade creations: artistic ceramics, wooden objects, sewn garments, felt, forged jewelry, and original accessories.
There was no shortage of delicacies from local producers and on-site catering, with grilled and smoked specialties from "Simon der Smoker". A day of artisanal shopping and good food in the heart of the garden village of the Merano area, in the Autonomous Province of Bolzano.
The market is held in the church square (Kirchplatz) of Lagundo/Algund, in the pedestrian center. Approximate hours: from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
