Promotional pairs alpine regularity walking race through the woods of Villar Dora
The Evening Forest Walk is a promotional alpine regularity walking race for pairs that brings the trails of Villar Dora, a small town in the Susa Valley within the Metropolitan City of Turin, Piedmont, to life. It is not a race against the clock: in alpine regularity walking, the goal is not to finish first, but to maintain the most consistent and steady pace possible, getting as close as possible to an ideal time set by the organizers. It is a discipline that rewards rhythm, teamwork between partners, and knowledge of one's own pace, making it perfect for families, experienced hikers, and beginners alike.
The event is promoted by the Polisportiva Villardorese together with the Piedmont Regional Committee of the Italian Hiking Federation (FIE). The Polisportiva is a historic local institution that has been a reference point for alpine walking and hiking in the valley for decades: its members maintain the local trails and organize various regularity races every year included in the FIE regional calendars.
The walk is divided into two loop itineraries that wind through the woods around Villar Dora:
As this is an evening walk, appropriate clothing is recommended, and above all, hiking boots or trekking shoes suitable for mountain trails.
Beyond the sporting aspect, the Evening Forest Walk is above all a community gathering. The meeting point is the oratory of Villar Dora, the heart of the town's social life, and the evening concludes with a convivial dinner open to all participants. There are awards ceremonies with three distinct rankings and prizes for everyone, in the true spirit of a promotional event: the important thing is to participate and share an evening in the open air among the woods of the Susa Valley.
The 2026 edition of the Evening Forest Walk was held on Saturday, May 2, 2026, in Villar Dora, organized by the Polisportiva Villardorese with the Piedmont Regional Committee of the FIE. The meeting was set for 5:00 PM at the oratory, with departures from 5:30 PM. Once again this year, there were two loop itineraries through the town's woods and a convivial dinner to end the evening in good company.
