The summer cultural festival spread across the Municipality of Caivano
Esterno Giorno is the new summer cultural festival promoted by the Municipality of Caivano, in the Metropolitan City of Naples, Campania. The name is borrowed from film terminology, where "esterno giorno" (exterior day) refers to a scene shot outdoors in natural light: for Caivano, it serves as an invitation to proudly reclaim public spaces, turning the entire city into a collective stage. The event is part of the "Caivano: City of Culture, Legality, and Youth" program.
The 2026 edition is the very first of its kind and spans the entire month of July, from the 9th to the 30th. The chosen theme is "Roots": a concept that weaves together memory, identity, and belonging, accompanying a deliberately itinerant and multidisciplinary program. Courtyards, squares, parks, and villas across the city will host screenings, performances, concerts, and meetings, bringing culture closer to citizens and restoring the social function of public spaces.
The program alternates between different genres and audiences. The open-air cinema offers titles for families and auteur films, ranging from children's screenings to art-house cinema. Theater arrives in the squares with the comedy "Oggetti Smarriti," while the music ranges from concerts by the Orchestra Scarlatti of Naples to DJ sets and a live performance by Neapolitan singer-songwriter Gabriele Esposito. There will also be book presentations, community exhibitions, workshops for children, and wellness moments like free yoga sessions in the park.
Esterno Giorno is designed as a widespread, participatory festival capable of engaging families, young people, and the elderly. Social walks, treasure hunts, baby dance sessions, and puppet shows complement the evening appointments in a calendar that animates almost every day of the month. For Caivano, a municipality often in the headlines, the event also represents a signal of cultural revival and a positive presence in the territory.
The inaugural edition of Esterno Giorno takes place from July 9th to 30th, 2026, spreading events across numerous public spaces in Caivano. The program ranges from open-air cinema to theater, from the classical music of the Orchestra Scarlatti to singer-songwriter concerts, including literary meetings and activities for children and families. The theme "Roots" accompanies the entire month as a guiding thread.
Caivano is located on the plains north of Naples, well-connected by car via the Asse Mediano and the A1 motorway (Caivano exit). By train, the reference stations are those of the Naples metropolitan area, with onward travel by bus or car to the city center.
Events take place in multiple public spaces throughout the city: the Town Hall Courtyard, the Castle Atrium, Piazza Cesare Battisti, Parco Livatino, Villa Andersen, and various neighborhood gardens. Each event listing indicates the specific venue.
Most events are free of charge. For up-to-date information on times and locations, you can contact the VII Sector - Public Education, Culture, Sport, and Leisure of the Municipality of Caivano.
