EquiSommatino – Central Sicily Horse Fair is one of the most anticipated equestrian events in Southern Italy. It takes place on Viale Fontaine, in the town of Sommatino, in the province of Caltanissetta, and in just a few years, it has become a benchmark for enthusiasts, breeders, and industry professionals from all over Sicily. The fair is organized by the Il Salone del Cavallo association, led by Claudio Fonti and Cristina Asaro, and has welcomed over 10,000 visitors in recent editions.

Four days dedicated to horses

The program spans four days and offers a comprehensive look at the equestrian world: exhibitions, competitions, demonstrations, and a large exhibition area showcasing the best products in the sector. There are also dressage competitions, speed and agility trials, pony relays, and presentations of stables and horse breeds. For children and families, there are pony activities and a petting zoo featuring donkeys, llamas, and goats.

The Equiterra Grand Gala

The most spectacular moment of the fair is the Equiterra Grand Gala, an evening that blends horsemanship, music, dance, and equestrian artistry into an immersive show. Carousels, high-school riding acts, and choreography transform the arena into a grand stage, offering the audience emotions that combine sporting discipline with the beauty of live performance.

Sicilian tradition and carts

EquiSommatino devotes significant space to Sicilian folk traditions: the absolute stars are the Sicilian carts, authentic masterpieces of the island's craftsmanship, displayed and paraded alongside horses dressed in festive gear. The event thus celebrates local culture and the deep bond between the community of Sommatino and the equestrian world, in a blend of tradition, culture, and innovation.

Established in 2024, the Sommatino Horse Fair has grown rapidly, confirming its status as one of the most important spring events in Central Sicily. With exhibitions, competitions, galas, and conferences, EquiSommatino offers visitors, families, and enthusiasts a complete experience centered on horses, tradition, and Sicilian hospitality.
