The traditional fair that concludes the Christmas festivities in the historic center of Mosciano Sant'Angelo
The Epiphany Fair is the event with which the Municipality of Mosciano Sant'Angelo, in the Province of Teramo, bids farewell to the Christmas holidays. On Epiphany, the historic center of this Abruzzo village transforms into a large open-air market, animated from the early morning hours by stalls, exhibitors, music, and families. It is a deeply felt tradition for the community, bringing together residents and visitors from neighboring towns for one last day of celebration before returning to daily life.
Along the streets and squares of the historic center, various stalls and exhibitors set up shop, offering a wide and varied selection:
Accompanying your stroll through the stalls are the bagpipers, whose melodies recreate the typical atmosphere of the Abruzzo Christmas period, blending pastoral tradition with mountain charm.
The Epiphany Fair is, above all, a celebration for the little ones. Throughout the morning, there is entertainment and games for children, while the afternoon brings the most awaited moment: the arrival of the Befana, who makes a spectacular descent from the tower of the historic center in Mosciano Sant'Angelo to distribute sweets and smiles. This has become an iconic image of the event, drawing in many families.
The fair represents the grand finale of the rich "Aspettando Natale" (Waiting for Christmas) calendar, promoted by the Municipal Administration of Mosciano Sant'Angelo with a long program of events spread across December and January: lighting displays, workshops for children, readings, concerts, and the Christmas Fair. In recent editions, the program has been enriched by the special project "Riscoprire la luce: il Medioevo a Natale" (Rediscovering the Light: The Middle Ages at Christmas), featuring calligraphy and sealing wax workshops, themed readings, and light installations in the medieval area of the village, realized with the support of the Abruzzo Region.
Between shopping, local gastronomy, the music of bagpipers, and the magic of the Befana, the Epiphany Fair offers an authentic day discovering Abruzzo's popular traditions in one of the most vibrant villages in the hilly belt of the Province of Teramo, just a few kilometers from the Adriatic coast.
The 2026 Epiphany Fair was held on January 4, 2026, from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM, in the historic center of Mosciano Sant'Angelo. As per tradition, the event represented the final appointment of the "Aspettando Natale" program promoted by the Municipal Administration.
Stands and exhibitors filled the village streets with clothing, crafts, sweets, and local food and wine products, accompanied by bagpipers. In the morning, entertainment and games for children took place, while in the afternoon, the Befana arrived, making a spectacular descent from the historic center's tower. The edition was part of the "Riscoprire la luce: il Medioevo a Natale" project, supported by the Abruzzo Region.
On Epiphany (January 6th, or a nearby date established by the municipal program), from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM for the market; the arrival of the Befana takes place in the afternoon.
