Three days of school, theatre, cinema, and outdoor workshops in Bra
The Educating Community Festival is a widespread event that brings the city of Bra to life every spring, nestled in the heart of the Roero area in the province of Cuneo, Piedmont. Promoted by the Municipality of Bra in collaboration with local schools, youth centres, associations, and foundations, the festival serves as a public and festive culmination of the numerous educational and social projects dedicated to children, teenagers, and families throughout the school year, all under the shadow of the iconic Zizzola tower.
The event spans three days, each with its own unique focus. The first day is dedicated to the "Educating Community on Stage" project, featuring performances and short films created by secondary school students, exploring themes such as relationships with peers, adults, and oneself. The second day highlights the STAR theatre project, supported by the Fondazione CRT, showcasing final performances by primary and secondary school students open to the public.
The highlight is the grand closing party at the Giardini del Belvedere della Rocca, where nature and community converge. This is where the youth centre celebration, tied to the "Community Spaces" project, comes to life with the participation of local oratories and associations. The afternoon is packed with activities for all ages: guided tours of the botanical garden, scientific workshopsโsuch as using red cabbage as a pH indicatorโthe "Wild Masks" outdoor creative workshop using leaves, branches, and natural materials, as well as chess, board games, art exhibitions, and musical entertainment.
More than just a calendar of events, the Educating Community Festival embodies the idea that education is a shared responsibility of the entire community. In Bra, this vision translates into a participatory, free event that honours the daily efforts of teachers, educators, volunteers, and families, returning a space of intergenerational connection to the city, immersed in the greenery and history of the Rocca.
The 2026 Educating Community Festival was held in Bra from Thursday, May 28, to Saturday, May 30. On Thursday the 28th, the BPER Auditorium and the "G. Arpino" Multipurpose Centre hosted performances and short films from the "Educating Community on Stage" project, created by secondary school students; in the afternoon, the new logo for the Movicentro youth space was presented at Palazzo Mathis. Friday the 29th featured the theatrical performance of the STAR project, supported by the Fondazione CRT, starring children and students from local schools. On Saturday the 30th, at the Giardini del Belvedere della Rocca, the closing party celebrated "Community Spaces" with guided tours of the botanical garden, scientific and creative workshops, games, and musical entertainment. The organizers reported a positive outcome, with great success in terms of public turnout and participation.
Bra is easily accessible by car via the A6 Turin-Savona motorway (Marene exit) and the A33 Asti-Cuneo motorway. By train, the city is served by the Bra station on the Turin-Cavallermaggiore-Bra line. The nearest airport is Turin-Caselle, about an hour away.
