The gourmet walking tour on Easter Monday through the hills of Cantarana
The Easter Monday Walk is one of the most anticipated events in the spring calendar of Cantarana, a small town of just over a thousand inhabitants nestled in the hills of the Province of Asti, in the heart of Piedmont. Carefully organized by the Cantarana Pro Loco with the patronage of UNPLI Piemonte, the event takes place every year on Easter Monday, when tradition calls for heading outdoors to share a day in good company.
The heart of the event is a gourmet walk of about 10 kilometers that winds along paths and roads, partly paved and partly dirt, surrounding the village. The route crosses woods and vineyards, offering sweeping views of the rolling Monferrato hills. This is no ordinary hike: along the way, various gourmet stops are set up where walkers can pause to enjoy specialties prepared by Pro Loco volunteers.
The menu accompanies participants from the beginning to the end of the walk, with a rhythm that alternates movement and conviviality:
All for a modest cost of about 25 euros per person, lunch included, making it an accessible proposal highly appreciated by families.
The walk is designed to be enjoyed in company: the route is suitable for families, groups of friends, and even four-legged companions. In the afternoon, upon returning, the party continues at the Pro Loco headquarters with musical entertainment, games, and social moments. In case of bad weather, a covered shelter is available, ensuring the event can take place in any condition.
Now in its thirty-second edition, the Easter Monday Walk has become a symbol of Cantarana's community vitality and an opportunity to showcase the hilly territory of the Asti area. For the small Piedmontese town, it also represents an important moment for tourism promotion, capable of attracting visitors from neighboring towns and sharing the flavors and landscapes of this corner of Monferrato. An event that encapsulates the most authentic spirit of Piedmontese Pro Loco associations: tradition, nature, and good food.
The 32nd edition of the Easter Monday Walk was held on Monday, April 6, 2026, on Easter Monday. The meeting point was set for 8:30 AM at the Cantarana Pro Loco headquarters in Via IV Novembre, with the walk starting at 9:30 AM.
The route, covering about 10 km on paved and dirt roads through woods and vineyards, featured the usual gourmet stops: welcome aperitif, mixed appetizer, first course, and dessert, with water and wine included. In the afternoon, the day continued with musical entertainment and games at the Pro Loco headquarters.
Cantarana is located in the Province of Asti, along the route between Asti and Villanova d'Asti. By car, it can be reached from the A21 motorway (Asti Est exit) or the SS10 road. The nearest train station is Villafranca d'Asti, on the Turin-Asti line.
Meeting point and registration from 8:30 AM at the Pro Loco headquarters in Via IV Novembre; the walk starts at 9:30 AM. Lunch along the route is scheduled for around 1:00 PM.
Participation costs about 25 euros per person, lunch included. Registration is mandatory and must be done in advance (by the days preceding the event) by contacting the Pro Loco at +39 347 5743708 (Lory) or +39 338 2307500 (Laura), also via WhatsApp, preferably in the evening hours.
Comfortable hiking shoes and layered clothing are recommended. The event is suitable for families and four-legged friends.
