Easter Monday featuring trekking, local flavors, and traditions on Monte Plaja
In the green heart of the Valle Peligna, the Bosco Plaja agriturismo, managed by the Spinosa Pingue family, turns every Easter Monday into an open-air festival. In Introdacqua, a village in the province of L'Aquila overlooking the Abruzzo Apennines, Easter Monday in the Woods has become a highly anticipated event for families, hikers, and nature lovers who choose to spend the day immersed in the twenty hectares of forest on Monte Plaja rather than on the usual picnic lawn.
The festivities kick off in the morning with a warm welcome for guests, followed by the highlight of the day: a lunch prepared with authentic zero-kilometer products from Fattorie Pingue, including bruschetta, arrosticini, sausages, roasted porchetta, traditional side dishes, and Abruzzese Easter desserts. The local cuisine reflects the deep bond between the Valle Peligna region and its agro-pastoral culture.
The pride of the day is the guided trek along the Sentiero Valter on the slopes of Monte Plaja. Accompanied by expert hiking guides, participants follow a medium-difficulty tourist route, suitable even for children, to discover the panoramas and vegetation of the forest. It is an authentic way to get to know the mountain landscape surrounding Introdacqua.
Easter Monday at Bosco Plaja is designed primarily for families: the day is enlivened by games for children, tournaments for teenagers and adults, foosball, ping pong, giant checkers and chess, pinecone hunts, and many other outdoor activities. The backdrop is provided by Abruzzese music and folklore, bringing the region's popular sounds and traditions to life.
Among the most original offerings is the "Truffle Hunter for a Day" workshop, a guided experience to discover the fascinating world of truffle hunting alongside the Scuola Maiella Tartufi and their trained dogs. It is a unique opportunity to engage with a gastronomic and environmental heritage typical of inland Abruzzo.
Organized by the Bosco Plaja agriturismo of Fattorie Pingue, Easter Monday in the Woods promotes the Municipality of Introdacqua and the entire Valle Peligna in the heart of Abruzzo. It is a reservation-only event that combines hiking, traditional gastronomy, and popular traditions, offering an authentic, family-friendly alternative to celebrate Easter Monday in the nature of the Apennines.
