Easter Monday in Bra featuring Piedmontese cattle, local farmers' markets, and street food
Every year, on Easter Monday, the city of Bra (province of Cuneo, Piedmont) transforms into a grand open-air stage. The Easter Monday Fair is one of the most beloved and well-attended events in the local calendar: for an entire day, the historic center and city squares are filled with stalls, aromas, animals, and visitors arriving from across the Roero and Langhe regions. It is the classic Easter Monday outing, experienced here in the spirit of local flavor, agricultural tradition, and conviviality.
The historical soul of the event is the Piedmontese Cattle Livestock Fair, a show with roots dating back to the 19th century, representing one of the most important milestones for local breeders. In Piazza Giolitti, under the canopy, the finest specimens of the prized Piedmontese breed are paraded, presented by local farms and evaluated by expert juries who award prizes in various categories (young bulls, heifers, slaughter bulls). Alongside the livestock competition, there are vintage tractors, plant nurseries, small animal stalls, and educational workshops for children, including the school competition 'My Ideal Farm'.
The festival is not just about livestock. Piazza Giolitti hosts the Farmers' Market, organized in collaboration with the Slow Food Earth Market and Coldiretti Campagna Amica: an opportunity to taste and purchase local zero-kilometer excellence, from the famous Bra sausage to local cheeses. The Artigiani del Gusto (Artisans of Taste) from Confartigianato Cuneo manage the street food area, while the 'BRA'S' space offers platters of typical products. The streets of the center also welcome street vendors, garden tool displays, and various stalls, while a funfair for children is set up in Piazza Spreitenbach.
The Easter Monday Fair is much more than just a fair: it is a celebration of identity that tells the story of the deep bond between the city of Bra and its countryside. Organized by the Municipality of Bra together with Confartigianato Cuneo, Ascom Bra, Slow Food, Coldiretti, Visit Langhe Monferrato Roero, and the Piedmont Region, the initiative also involves city museums, which are open for free on the occasion. For those who love nature and cycling, the Roero hills provide the backdrop for cycling routes through vineyards and farmsteads. A perfect opportunity to discover one of the capitals of Piedmontese food and wine culture.
The 2026 Easter Monday Fair celebrated a historic milestone: the 150th anniversary of the Piedmontese Cattle Livestock Fair. A sunny day drew hundreds of visitors to Bra, between Piazza Giolitti, the historic center, and the funfair in Piazza Spreitenbach. Alongside the livestock competition, the farmers' market, the 'Artigiani del Gusto' street food, and the evening concert by Trelilu enlivened the city.
