The traditional fair of Palagianello during Easter week
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Easter Fair is one of the most anticipated events of the year in Palagianello, a small town in the Province of Taranto, in the heart of Puglia. Every spring, during Easter week, the streets and squares of the town transform into a large open-air market filled with stalls, fairground rides, street vendors, and food stands, attracting residents and visitors from neighboring towns.
The fair is more than just a market: it is deeply intertwined with the patronal feast of Maria Santissima delle Grazie, the patron saint of Palagianello, which is celebrated here on Easter Monday. On this day, the community observes religious moments in honor of the Madonna, while the streets remain bustling with the fair. It is a classic Southern Italian combination, where the liturgical and popular calendars merge into one great collective celebration.
Strolling through the stands, you can find a bit of everything, in the spirit of ancient village fairs:
Hosting the fair in the historic center means experiencing the most authentic side of Palagianello, a town overlooking its striking ravine and dominated by its castle. The event thus becomes an opportunity to discover a village in the Murgia tarantina area that often remains off the beaten track, yet preserves a rich heritage of traditions, devotion, and hospitality.
Organized under the coordination of the Municipality of Palagianello, the Easter Fair represents one of the most important social gatherings of the year for the town. It is a time when families, children, and the elderly gather in the streets, between popular faith and the simple pleasure of a spring festival passed down from generation to generation.
The 2026 Easter Fair will return to animate the historic center of Palagianello, in the province of Taranto, with stalls, fairground rides, and local food stands. At present, the Municipality has not yet published the official dates for the 2026 edition: as per tradition, the fair is expected during the days of Easter week, around Easter Monday, when the patronal feast of Maria SS. delle Grazie is celebrated. The detailed calendar and list of activities will be released by the Municipality of Palagianello in the weeks prior to the event.
The fair takes place along the streets and squares of the historic center of Palagianello (TA), in Puglia.
During the days of Easter week, between Easter Sunday and Easter Monday, when the patronal feast of Maria SS. delle Grazie is also celebrated.
Palagianello can be reached by car from the Taranto and Castellaneta areas and is served by the Ferrovie del Sud Est railway line between Bari and Taranto. During the fair, it is recommended to park in areas outside the center, as several streets are closed to traffic.
