The Osterkonzert der Bürgerkapelle Nals is the highlight of the musical year for the civic band of Nalles (Nals in German), a small wine-growing municipality in the Autonomous Province of Bolzano, in Trentino-Alto Adige. Every year on Easter Sunday, the musicians perform for the local community in an evening that is both a concert and a festive gathering, showcasing a band tradition deeply rooted in South Tyrolean culture.
The Bürgerkapelle Nals has ancient roots: a 1914 document related to Schwanburg Castle refers to the "Nalser Musikgesellschaft" as a musical society "in existence for over a hundred years," placing the band's origins in the early 19th century. Today, the ensemble boasts over fifty active musicians—men and women from Nalles who play together out of pure passion in their free time. Since 1970, the band has been twinned with the Stadtkapelle of Weißenhorn, near Ulm, Germany.
Since 2022, the Bürgerkapelle Nals has been led by Kapellmeister Michael Seebacher, who has brought renewed energy and programming to the group. The Osterkonzert repertoire typically ranges from traditional marches and original wind orchestra pieces to symphonic arrangements and light music, offering the audience a broad and polished soundscape that highlights the band's various sections.
The concert is held at 8:00 PM in the Nalles Vereinshaus, the village's community center. For years, the fifty-plus member band sought a suitable rehearsal space; with the construction of the new school gymnasium, it was possible to adapt the old gym inside the Vereinshaus, which provided the ideal dimensions to accommodate the entire ensemble. Today, this space also serves as the perfect setting for the highly anticipated Easter event.
Nestled in the Adige Valley basin about fifteen kilometers from Bolzano and Merano, Nalles is the southernmost municipality of the Burgraviato area and marks the beginning of the famous South Tyrolean Wine Road. Known as the "village of roses" due to its particularly mild climate that favors vineyards, orchards, and rose gardens, it offers concert-goers the chance to discover an authentic corner of the Adige Valley, blending musical tradition, fine food and wine, and alpine landscapes.
As every year, the Bürgerkapelle Nals is preparing its traditional Easter concert for the public in Nalles, in the Province of Bolzano. The event usually falls on Easter Sunday, which in 2026 corresponds to April 5, starting at 8:00 PM in the village's Vereinshaus. As of the publication date of this entry, the band has not yet officially announced the date and program for the 2026 edition: information will be updated as soon as it becomes available on the Bürgerkapelle Nals channels.
The Osterkonzert takes place on Easter Sunday at 8:00 PM at the Vereinshaus in Nalles (39010 Nalles/Nals, Province of Bolzano).
Nalles is located approximately 14 km northwest of Bolzano, along the Adige Valley. By car: take the A22 motorway exit at Bolzano South or Bolzano North, then follow signs for Merano/Wine Road. By train: travel to Bolzano and continue by local bus to Nalles.
