The Silvi stopover: music, contemporary art, and the sea
The Diorama Festival is a traveling music and contemporary art event that traverses Abruzzo throughout the summer, visiting some of the region's most stunning locations. In Silvi, in the province of Teramo, the festival hosts a free-entry evening that combines concerts, visual installations, and local promotion, with the Adriatic coastline and the sunset over the sea serving as the natural backdrop for the performances.
Conceived and artistically directed by Paolo Cialini, the Diorama Festival takes its name from the concept of a miniature diorama, recreated here at full scale: lightweight installations and lighting designs are placed directly on the beach or in town squares, turning every stop into a living painting. The visual arts direction is entrusted to a curatorial project that also involves the Academy of Fine Arts of L'Aquila, featuring works inspired by the identity and landscapes of Abruzzo.
The musical program blends established names from the Italian scene with young talent from Abruzzo, spanning nu-jazz, afrobeat, disco, singer-songwriter music, and experimental electronics. It is a high-quality offering focused on research and cross-pollination, far from mainstream commercial circuits, designed for curious audiences and those looking to discover Abruzzo through the language of contemporary music.
The Silvi stop is part of a regional calendar that, edition after edition, involves dozens of Abruzzo municipalities along the coast and inland. The festival enjoys the patronage of the Abruzzo Region and recognition from the Ministry of Tourism; in Silvi, it is part of the summer event program promoted by the Municipality. Admission to the evenings is free, in line with Diorama's commitment to making research-based culture and music accessible to everyone.
The Diorama Festival returns to Silvi on August 28, 2026, this time at Parco Le Dune in Silvi Marina. The evening, with free admission, renews the formula that has made the festival recognizable: a blend of music, contemporary art, and the local territory, with light installations positioned on the beach and the sunset over the Adriatic Sea integrated into the show.
The event is part of the 2026 summer calendar of the Municipality of Silvi, presented at the end of June, which brings concerts, shows, and sporting events to the city throughout the season alongside the Diorama.
The detailed program and the complete line-up for the Silvi stop on August 28, 2026, have not yet been announced at the time of publication. The evening, as per the festival's tradition, will alternate live concerts by artists from the Italian and Abruzzo scenes with contemporary art installations, starting in the evening at Parco Le Dune.
The Silvi stop of the Diorama Festival is held at Parco Le Dune, in Silvi Marina (Silvi, province of Teramo, Abruzzo). In previous editions, the evening has also taken place in Piazza Marconi.
Admission is free.
Silvi can be reached via the A14 motorway (Pescara Nord-Città Sant'Angelo exit) and by train thanks to the Silvi station on the Adriatic line. Silvi Marina is located on the seafront, just a few steps from the beach.
The Silvi stop usually takes place in August, during the evening.
