Music, visual arts, and traditions in the village of Mutignano, Pineto
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Diorama Festival is a travelling cultural project launched in Abruzzo in 2021, designed to rediscover and celebrate the region's most extraordinary sites through contemporary expression. Music, visual arts, spoken word, and folk traditions merge in events that bring focus back to the territory and its communities. Over the years, the festival has visited villages, squares, beaches, and unconventional spaces across the four provinces of Abruzzo, bringing contemporary art into stunning scenic settings.
In Pineto, in the province of Teramo, Diorama Festival selects the small hilltop village of Mutignano, specifically the evocative Belvedere del Castellaro, which overlooks a panorama stretching from the Teramo hinterland to the Adriatic Sea. It is an intimate, scenic spot that transforms for a day into a sprawling stage where the audience moves between installations, performances, and concerts.
The festival offers a multidisciplinary format that combines various artistic dimensions:
The artistic program is complemented by street food and tastings of typical Abruzzese products, in a convivial atmosphere that involves local associations and village residents. Diorama Festival is conceived as a community experience, where contemporary art engages with the memory and identity of the places it visits.
Realized with the patronage of the Municipality of Pineto and supported by local bodies and foundations, Diorama Festival stands as one of the most original experiences in the Abruzzo cultural landscape, capable of bringing contemporary languages to villages and landscapes otherwise outside the usual event circuits. The Mutignano stop, with its Belvedere del Castellaro, is an emblematic example.
The Diorama Festival continues its travelling journey in 2026 through the villages, squares, and landscapes of Abruzzo. For the Pineto stop in the charming village of Mutignano, the dates and program for the 2026 edition have not yet been officially announced. In past editions, the event was held in June at the Belvedere del Castellaro, featuring a day of music, visual arts, storytelling, and folk traditions with free admission. We recommend following the official Diorama Festival social media channels and the notices from the Municipality of Pineto to find out the dates and line-up as soon as they are available.
Mutignano is a hilltop hamlet of Pineto (TE), accessible by car via the A14 motorway (Pineto-Atri exit) and the SS16 Adriatica road. The reference train station is Pineto, on the Adriatic line. In previous editions, a free shuttle service was available from Pineto (via Roma / piazzale Roma) to Mutignano, running every 30 minutes.
Admission to the festival is free.
We recommend wearing comfortable clothing to move between the village spaces and the hills. For updated information on dates and the program, it is useful to check the official social media channels of the Diorama Festival and the notices from the Municipality of Pineto.
