Three days dedicated to the prized black truffle of the Valnerina, with the spectacular record-breaking omelette in the village of Scheggino
Diamante Nero is the grand festival that every spring sees the village of Scheggino, in the province of Perugia, dedicate itself to the prized black truffle of the Valnerina. For three days, the streets and squares of the town fill with food and wine stands, tastings, and events dedicated to the precious "black diamond," the symbolic product of this corner of Umbria crossed by the Nera River.
The program alternates show cooking with star chefs, guided truffle hunts with truffle hunters and their dogs, workshops for adults and children, art exhibitions, musical readings, and theatrical performances. The event, part of the circuit of the National Association of Truffle Towns, has been curated in recent years by artistic director Peppone Calabrese, a familiar face from the TV show Linea Verde.
The highlight is the famous record-breaking omelette in Piazza Carlo Urbani: a spectacular preparation with thousands of eggs and tens of kilos of black truffle, which draws a crowd of curious visitors and gourmets every year. An attraction that has made Diamante Nero one of the most recognizable gastronomic events in the Valnerina and all of Umbria.
Supported by the Region of Umbria and the GAL Valle Umbra e Sibillini, the event is also an opportunity to discover Scheggino, its waters, the Municipal Theatre, and the Carlo Urbani Museum, in a journey that intertwines food and wine, culture, and nature.
The XIX edition of Diamante Nero took place from April 10 to 12, 2026, in Scheggino, under the artistic direction of Peppone Calabrese (Linea Verde) and with the collaboration of GAL Valle Umbra e Sibillini, the National Association of Truffle Towns, and the Umbria Region. Three days of food and wine stands, show cooking, truffle hunts, workshops, and performances, culminating in the spectacular record-breaking omelette with 2,026 eggs and 80 kg of truffles in Piazza Carlo Urbani. The edition's muses were Bianca Luna Santoro and Eleonora Pieroni.
By car: Scheggino can be reached via the SS209 Valnerina road, between Spoleto and Terni. Parking is available near the center.
The event takes place in April, over three days (Friday-Sunday). Free admission; tastings and stands are paid.
