The textile arts market fair at the Filatoio Rosso in Caraglio
"Di filo in filo" is the textile arts market fair that brings the Filatoio Rosso of Caraglio to life every year in the heart of the Cuneo province, Piedmont. For two days, the former apartments of the Galleani family and the spaces of the 17th-century complex transform into a stage for manual labor, where weaving, tailoring, embroidery, crochet, felting, and natural yarns tell the story of an ancient and enduring passion.
The event takes place in one of the most evocative locations in the region: the Filatoio of Caraglio, considered the oldest silk mill in Europe still standing today. Inside, you will find the Piedmontese Silk Museum, featuring reproductions of hydraulic twisting machines that illustrate the history of silk production in Piedmont. Hosting a textile exhibition here is no coincidence: thread is the common theme, from the silk of the past to the wools and natural fibers of today.
The heart of the event is the artisans' market, which brings together dozens of professional craftsmen and hobbyists. On the stalls, you will find scarves, hats, bags, cushions, tapestries, unique garments in wool and fine fibers, accessories for people and the home, and items made with natural yarns and traditional techniques. Each edition revolves around a different theme, guiding the exhibitors' offerings and collective projects.
Alongside the market, "Di filo in filo" offers a rich program of creative workshops for adults and children: loom weaving courses, crochet, floral printing using the tataki zomé technique, felting, and practical demonstrations. Activities for children and entertainment make the event suitable for the whole family. During the days of the event, it is also possible to visit the Piedmontese Silk Museum.
"Di filo in filo" is organized by the Municipality of Caraglio together with the Di filo in filo Association, with the support of local entities such as the Banca di Caraglio and the Fondazione CRC. More than just a fair, it is an appointment that enhances the craftsmanship, traditions, and textile identity of Caraglio and the entire Cuneo area in Piedmont.
The 2026 edition of "Di filo in filo," the 25th, featured the theme "Creativity in a Flower," a collective project that brought together the diverse techniques and visions of exhibitors and participants. The event took place at the Filatoio Rosso in Caraglio on Saturday, May 23rd (2 PM – 7 PM) and Sunday, May 24th (9 AM – 7 PM), with free admission to the market.
Workshop registrations were managed through the Caraglio Civic Library.
