The food and wine festival celebrating the best of the Lazio region in Anzio
DegustAnzio is the food and wine event that brings Anzio to life every springโa historic town on the Roman coast in the Province of Rome, Lazio. Originally conceived as a single evening of itinerant tasting in the historic center, the festival has grown with each edition into a widespread celebration, showcasing the region's gastronomic identity through wines, local products, and the city's great maritime tradition.
In 2026, the eighth edition marks a turning point: the event evolves from a single evening into a three-day festival (May 20-22), spread across various locations in the city and its hinterland. Organized by the Anzio Merchants and Artisans Association in collaboration with the Apicio Colonna Gatti Hotel Institute, the event focuses on short supply chains, local craftsmanship, and the deep bond between local cuisine and the sea.
The most anticipated moment remains the itinerant food and wine tour in the historic center of Anzio, a pedestrian circuit involving over thirty restaurants, shops, and wineries. Armed with a wine glass and a map, visitors stroll through the alleys, sampling small portions of local cuisine paired with Lazio wines, while live music and showcooking sessions animate the evening.
A cornerstone of the event is the promotion of Bellone, a native grape variety with ancient roots cultivated between Anzio and the Lazio coast. Through masterclasses, in-depth sessions, and tastings led by expert sommeliers, DegustAnzio shares the history and potential of an oenological heritage often unknown to the general public, restoring its role as an ambassador for the territory.
More than just a local festival, DegustAnzio is a promotional project by the Municipality of Anzio that unites merchants, restaurateurs, artisans, and producers in a collective narrative of taste. Every year, the event attracts thousands of visitors from Rome and the Castelli Romani, helping to make spring in Anzio one of the most vibrant seasons on the Lazio coast calendar.
In 2026, DegustAnzio takes a leap in quality, evolving from a single evening into a three-day widespread event, from May 20 to 22, involving the historic center of Anzio and its hinterland. The common thread remains the promotion of the food and wine excellence of the Lazio region, with a special focus on the native Bellone grape and the city's maritime tradition.
The main evening, Thursday, May 21, confirms the itinerant tour format with over thirty restaurants and wineries, showcooking, and live music, while the opening and closing days host events dedicated to wine culture and guided tastings.
Institutional inauguration with an exclusive masterclass dedicated to the native Bellone grape, curated by art historian, writer, and publisher Clemente Marigliani in collaboration with local wineries: an in-depth look at the ancient roots and productive potential of the grape.
The heart of the festival: a pedestrian food and wine circuit with over thirty local restaurants and wineries. Pairings between traditional local dishes and the best regional wines, featuring the Anzio Fish Soup prepared by the Alceste Buon Gusto restaurant. The evening is animated by live music and showcooking. Each participant receives a professional kit with a wine glass, a glass holder bag, and a tour map.
A closing event of great elegance at Borgo degli Aranci, located at Via Ardeatina 620 in Lavinio, featuring a high-quality tasting led by Massimo Billetto, professor at the Italian Sommelier Foundation, editor of the Bibenda guide, and Ambassadeur du Champagne.
Anzio can be reached by train from Roma Termini station via the regional FL8 line (about one hour), or by car via the Via Pontina (SS148) and Via Nettunense. The historic center and the port are just a few minutes' walk from the station.
The itinerant tasting evening requires a ticket (25 โฌ in 2026), which includes a kit with a wine glass, a glass holder bag, and a tour map. Tickets can be purchased online on the Anzio Merchants and Artisans Association website.
Book your ticket for the main evening in advance, wear comfortable shoes for the walking tour, and consider staying overnight in Anzio or Nettuno to enjoy the sea and the historic center.
