The honey and local produce fair in Piazza Pia, Anzio
"Honey and More", also known as "The Honey of Our Lands", is the food and wine festival that brings Piazza Pia to life every September in the heart of Anzio. Promoted by the Pro Loco Città di Anzio, the event focuses on beekeeping and the typical products of the Roman coast, transforming the square into a large open-air tasting counter where producers share their craft and the public rediscovers the most authentic flavors of the territory.
The absolute star is honey in all its varieties: from monofloral honeys to those from the Mediterranean scrub, as well as beehive products like pollen, propolis, royal jelly, and beeswax. Surrounding this is a selection of local food and wine specialties, including jams, sweets, preserves, and other artisanal excellence. It is an opportunity to get to know the world of beekeepers up close, understand the importance of bees for the environment and biodiversity, and take home genuine products purchased directly from the makers.
For 2026, the date is set for Saturday, September 12 and Sunday, September 13, with about fifteen operators gathered in Piazza Pia. Two days dedicated to conviviality, suitable for families, where taste intertwines with the culture of the land and the promotion of small-scale production. The event is part of the rich summer calendar "A Sea of Emotions #civediamoadanzio", which accompanies the city until September with over one hundred and fifty events.
The event is organized by the Pro Loco Città di Anzio, chaired by Barbara Chiarello, which is very active in promoting local traditions and identity. Alongside "Honey and More", the association signs off on various seasonal events, such as the "Landing Fair" (Fiera dello Sbarco) and summer evenings, with the goal of making the history and excellence of the territory a driver for tourism.
Located in the Province of Rome, in the Lazio region, Anzio is one of the most beloved destinations on the coast south of the capital, famous for its beaches, fishing port, Roman ruins, and the memory of the 1944 Allied Landing. Experiencing "Honey and More" means combining the pleasure of a day at the beach with the discovery of the genuine flavors of this corner of the Lazio coast, in a square that fills with scents, colors, and encounters in September.
In 2026, "Honey and More" returns to Piazza Pia in Anzio on Saturday, September 12 and Sunday, September 13. The festival, promoted by the Pro Loco Città di Anzio, is dedicated to beekeeping and the typical products of the Roman coast: about fifteen operators offer artisanal honey, beehive products, and local food and wine specialties. The event is part of the summer program "A Sea of Emotions #civediamoadanzio".
