The major autumn trade show in Foggia and the Capitanata region

The October Fair in Foggia, affectionately known for generations as the Ottobre Dauno, is the most anticipated trade event of the autumn in the Capitanata. Organized by the Ente Autonomo Fiera di Foggia, it takes place every year at the large Quartiere Fieristico on Corso del Mezzogiorno, just outside the city center, attracting thousands of visitors from across the province of Foggia and neighboring regions. Over three days of free admission, trade, agriculture, craftsmanship, and local flavors come together under the exhibition halls.
Foggia's tradition as a trade hub dates back to the Swabian and Aragonese eras, when the city hosted one of the largest wool and cheese markets in the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies and one of the most important in Europe, linked to the culture of transhumance and the Royal Sheep Customs House. In the post-war period, the event experienced its golden age: between the 1960s and 1970s, the Agriculture Fair achieved international status and the October Fair became the showcase for the economic boom of the Daunia region. Today, the exhibition continues to address the new challenges of agriculture and the local economy.
The October Fair is a multi-sector trade show: alongside the core food and wine section, numerous sectors dedicated to commerce and leisure coexist. Traditionally featured sectors include:
In addition to the exhibition stands, the October Fair hosts conferences on new agricultural technologies and a series of popular side events: most notably the Philately, Numismatics, and Collectors' Fair, a reference point for enthusiasts from all over Southern Italy, as well as music, entertainment, and folk culture events that bring the fairgrounds to life over the three days.
As the capital of the largest province in Apulia, Foggia is the center of the Tavoliere plain, the second-largest plain in Italy after the Po Valley. The October Fair perfectly reflects this agricultural and mercantile identity: it is simultaneously a popular festival, an economic showcase, and an opportunity to rediscover the flavors and wisdom of the Daunia land. For those visiting the city in October, it is the best way to connect with the true soul of the Capitanata.
The Dauno October Fair returns in 2026 to the Foggia Exhibition Center. At the moment, the Ente Autonomo Fiera di Foggia has not yet released the official dates or the program for the 2026 edition.
Based on recent editions, the event is usually held in mid-October and features the customary agri-food, agricultural machinery, handicrafts, and typical Daunia products sectors, with free admission and numerous side events. As soon as the organization publishes the dates and detailed program, this page will be updated.
