The timed uphill race from Introd to Les Combes, 2.8 km and 450 meters of elevation gain
The Cronoscalata Introd - Les Combes is a classic of Valle d'Aosta mountain running: a time trial race of 2.8 km with 450 meters of positive elevation gain that takes athletes from the village of Introd (Province of Aosta) to the hamlet of Les Combes. The format is individual time trial, with competitors starting at staggered intervals of ten seconds: a direct challenge against the clock, measured in seconds.
The race is part of the regional AVMAP 'martze a pià' circuit and is valid as a round of the FIDAL regional mountain running championship. Every year it attracts a large group of specialists from Valle d'Aosta and beyond, on a late May evening that has become a tradition for the village.
Alongside the competitive race, the event also offers races for youth categories and the Baby Run 'Around the Castle', dedicated to children, around the historic castle of Introd. A way to involve the entire community and let families experience the festival, in a charming alpine setting, at the gateway to Valsavarenche and the Gran Paradiso National Park.
The 18th edition of the Cronoscalata Introd - Les Combes took place on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, with a record 317 participants. The evening began with the new Vertical Team Challenge, a race for teams of three athletes, followed by the individual time trial. Among men, Jacques Lino Chanoine (Atletica Sandro Calvesi) triumphed in 17'53", ahead of Marco Magistro (18'45") and Didier Abram (18'59"). Among women, Olympian Charlotte Bonin (Atletica Sandro Calvesi) won in 22'42", 25th overall, ahead of Federica Barailler and Lisa Borzani. There was also space for youth categories and the Baby Run 'Around the Castle', with 33 children at the start.
Record of 317 participants. Victories by Jacques Lino Chanoine and Charlotte Bonin. Debut of the Vertical Team Challenge for teams of three.
Introd is located along the road that goes from Aosta towards Valsavarenche and Rhêmes, at the entrance to the Gran Paradiso National Park. It can be reached by car from the SS26 state road and the regional road to the Rhêmes and Valsavarenche valleys.
Registration opens in the weeks preceding the race; the format includes both the individual time trial and, from 2026, the Vertical Team Challenge for teams.
