International mountain bike at the foot of Mont Blanc
The Courmayeur MTB Event is one of the most anticipated events of the Aosta Valley mountain biking season. Every spring, the hamlet of Dolonne, in Courmayeur (Province of Aosta), hosts two days of cross-country races around the Courmayeur Sport Center, with the Mont Blanc massif serving as a monumental backdrop.
The international track measures approximately 4 km with 180 meters of positive elevation gain per lap, designed to test legs and riding technique: fast sections alternate with technical passages and challenging climbs. For the youth categories, a reduced circuit of 3.5 km with 130 meters of elevation gain is planned, designed for beginners and intermediates.
The event is valid as an international UCI XCO C1 race and as a stage of the Italia Bike Cup, and it gathers hundreds of athletes among the open, junior, and youth categories, with a significant foreign presence from France, Switzerland, Germany, Denmark, and other countries. Saturday is dedicated to the major categories, Sunday to the younger ones: a weekend that combines high-level competitive sport and the promotion of cycling among new generations.
The event is organized by the Velo Club Courmayeur Mont Blanc, a historic cycling entity in the Aosta Valley that has been managing races in the area for years. The natural setting of Courmayeur and the Aosta Valley makes this stage one of the most picturesque on the national calendar.
