The Alvito road race in the heart of the Comino Valley
The CorriAlvito - Federico Buccilli Memorial has become a staple of the lower Lazio running calendar. Every year, hundreds of runners gather in the streets and squares of the Municipality of Alvito, in the province of Frosinone, for a race that combines competition, scenic beauty, and community spirit. In 2026, the event marks its twelfth edition, confirming its status as one of the most cherished events in the Comino Valley.
The competitive race covers a road circuit of approximately 9.1 km, characterized by significant elevation changes that make the course technical and selective. The climbs and descents between Alvito's historic center and the surrounding countryside offer stunning views of the village and the mountains framing the valley, rewarding athletes' efforts with exceptional scenery. The race is open to FIDAL-registered athletes, members of sports promotion organizations recognized by CONI, and Runcard holders with valid medical certification.
CorriAlvito is not just for adults: one of the most anticipated moments is the Toodles Run, a race dedicated to children and teenagers aged 0 to 15. Distances are tailored to each age group, ranging from a few meters for the youngest to 200 meters for older children, with prizes for every young participant. It is a wonderful way to introduce the next generation to sports and involve families in a day outdoors.
The event bears the name Federico Buccilli Memorial, dedicated to the memory of a figure dear to the Alvito community and the local running world. Each edition renews this tribute, giving the race a significance that goes beyond athletic results and unites the community around a meaningful initiative.
Located in southern Lazio, Alvito is one of the most characteristic villages in the Comino Valley, dominated by the ruins of the Cantelmo Castle and surrounded by a landscape of hills and mountains marking the border with Abruzzo. The race is the perfect opportunity to discover this authentic corner of the Ciociaria, far from mass tourism, amidst medieval alleys, churches, and the traditional hospitality of its inhabitants.
The event is organized by the CorriAlvito Association in collaboration with the Berrunning club, with the patronage of the Municipality of Alvito, the Pro Loco, and the Comunitร Montana Valle di Comino. Timing services are provided by DigitalRace. Medical assistance is available along the route with an ambulance and doctor, and the day concludes with refreshments and the unmissable pasta party, fostering a convivial atmosphere.
