Every August 15th, the day of the Assumption, the town of Casalvieri, in the province of Frosinone, gathers in Piazza Calcatina for its Ferragosto Festival. It is the highlight of mid-summer: starting at 7:00 PM, the square comes alive with people, lights, and music, in an evening that unites those who live in the village all year round and those who return from cities or abroad specifically for the August holidays.

The choice of Piazza Calcatina is no coincidence: it is one of the most vibrant gathering spaces in the town center, where the community has met for generations on special occasions. For Ferragosto, the square becomes an open-air living room, with stalls, long tables, and a space dedicated to music and dancing that continues late into the night.

In the Ciociaria region and the Comino Valley, Ferragosto is much more than a date on the calendar: it is the moment when towns fill up again, emigrants return, and families reunite. In Casalvieri, the August 15th festival effectively opens the heart of the summer celebrations, followed on August 16th by the celebration of the patron saint Saint Roch in Piazza San Rocco and on August 17th by the festivities for Saint Honorius in Piazza Municipio. During the same period, the town hosts beloved events such as the "Butcher's Workshop" Meat Festival, the Beer Festival, and the Omelet Festival, along with sports memorials, open-air cinema, and musical evenings.
