Running for a good cause in Cardito

There is one day in Cardito when running becomes much more than just a sport. It is December 8th, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, when the streets of this town in the province of Naples transform into the course for Corri per Amore, a 10-kilometre road race that has made solidarity its reason for being. Organized by the A.S.D. Run For Love Project Anna Cerbone, the event debuted in 2023 and has quickly become a fixture on the Campanian running calendar.

A 10 km course in the heart of the city

The start and finish lines are located at Parco Taglia, the expansive 80,000-square-meter municipal park that serves as the green heart of Cardito. From here, runners set off on a 10 km city loop, open to both FIDAL-registered athletes and amateur runners or families who want to participate for the joy of being there. Along the route, there are plenty of refreshment points, while the atmosphere remains that of a traditional village festival: crowds cheering on the sidelines, music, and a shared sense of enthusiasm.

Sport and solidarity: the meaning of the race

The defining feature of Corri per Amore is its charitable mission. Registration does not have a fixed price; instead, participants contribute via voluntary donations. Every contribution goes toward a fundraiser dedicated to supporting the long-distance adoption of four children through Save the Children, renewed year after year. The funds raised have also supported projects for the less fortunate in the local area, making the race a true tool for social commitment rather than just a simple competition.

An event that grows every year

Since the first edition in 2023, which exceeded 500 participants and raised approximately 10,000 euros, Corri per Amore has continued to expand its audience: the 2025 edition saw over 650 runners at the starting line. Its success has attracted partners and sponsors who have joined the organization, confirming how a small town in the area north of Naples can build an event capable of uniting athleticism and generosity.

Located in the northern hinterland of the metropolitan city of Naples, Cardito is a densely populated town just a few kilometres from Afragola and Caivano, in Campania. In an urban context often highlighted only for its challenges, Corri per Amore represents a positive signal: a community that comes together, runs together, and chooses to transform a December morning into a concrete gesture for those in need.
