The Aversa road race blending sport, culture, and charity
Every year in late September, the streets of Aversaโthe Norman city in the Agro Aversano area, in the province of Caserta, Campaniaโcome alive with runners, families, and spectators for Stranormanna. This is more than just a road race; it is a collective celebration that has spent over a decade showcasing the pride of a community that chooses to run as one. Organized by the ASD L'Altra Aversa, the event is now a staple of the Campanian running calendar and one of the most popular sporting events in the province.
The heart of Stranormanna is the 10 km competitive race, which follows a mostly urban route passing through Aversa's most iconic landmarks. Beyond the competitive race, there are several options designed to get everyone involved:
The meeting point and finish line are set at Parco Pozzi, which serves as the event's headquarters throughout the day.
Since its inception in 2014, Stranormanna has focused on three core values: a love for sport, the promotion of the local area, and, most importantly, solidarity. Each edition supports charitable causes and non-profit organizations, turning every kilometer run into a concrete gesture of support. The event also holds deep sentimental significance, honoring the memory of Lorenzo Laudadio, a sportsman and the race's historic mascot who passed away prematurely, to whom the Aversa running community remains deeply attached.
In recent years, Stranormanna has evolved beyond just the competitive aspect: the Health Village (Villaggio della Salute) was created alongside the race. Set up in Parco Pozzi, it is a space where sport, prevention, and physical and mental well-being meet. Outdoor gyms, local sports clubs, performances, and group classes animate the area all morning, with the presence of organizations such as the LILT Caserta section, AISM, ECAN, GS Aversa Volley, and Pro Loco Aversa Normanna.
With over a thousand registered runners for the competitive race alone and thousands more lining the route, Stranormanna is much more than a race: it is the moment when Aversa and the entire Agro Aversano come together on the streets, amidst flags, music, and applause. It is also an ideal opportunity for those visiting Campania to discover a city rich in Norman history through the energy of a major popular sports festival.
The Stranormanna 2026, now in its eleventh edition, takes place on Sunday, September 27, 2026, based at Parco Pozzi in Aversa. This edition focuses on people and the community, with a program that intertwines competition, popular participation, and health awareness. Event director Peppe Andreozzi presents the Health Village as the new beating heart of the event: a space where physical activity, preventive culture, and physical and mental well-being meet, with the presence of LILT Caserta, AISM, ECAN, GS Aversa Volley, and Pro Loco Aversa Normanna.
Throughout the morning, the Orda Stranormanna (children's race) and the Stracanina (dog race) will also take place. The competitive race follows a 10 km urban route, mostly on asphalt.
Meeting point, start, and finish at Parco Pozzi in Aversa (CE), Campania. Aversa is located just a few kilometers from Naples and Caserta.
By train: Aversa station is served by regional lines and the regional metro (NaplesโAversa line). By car: take the Asse Mediano or SS7bis exits; please note that traffic changes are expected along the race route during the event.
Registration for the 10 km competitive race is done online via the portal indicated by the organizers (camelotsport.it). For the non-competitive Stracittadina, you can register via the online form or at authorized local shops.
