The Castagnito stop of the chamber music festival across the Langhe, Roero, and Monferrato hills
Colline in Musica is a traveling chamber music festival that takes place every June across the Langhe, Roero, and Monferrato territories, hosting prestigious concerts in castles, churches, convents, and historic theaters throughout Piedmont. Organized by the MUST association as part of Roero Cultural Events, the festival offers an intimate and refined experience: concerts lasting about an hour, often followed by social gatherings with the artists, in venues chosen for their beauty and historical significance.
Among the festival's many events, the stop in Castagnito — a small town in the Roero area in the province of Cuneo — takes place at the Teatro Comunale and represents one of the most anticipated moments of the season. Every year, the theater hosts a chamber music concert featuring programs that range from the great classics to lesser-known gems of the international repertoire.
A distinctive feature of Colline in Musica is its ability to foster dialogue between different cultures and traditions: alongside Italian performers, the festival invites musicians from all over the world, from Armenia to Japan, and from China to France. The artistic committee, which includes violinist Adrian Pinzaru, pursues a bold vision, showcasing young emerging talents alongside established musicians and proposing both new compositions and rarely performed works.
The festival was born from the desire to unite classical music with the extraordinary backdrop of the Piedmontese hills, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Each concert thus becomes an experience that engages both the ears and the eyes, guiding the audience to discover villages and historic sites that might otherwise remain little known.
All festival concerts, including the Castagnito stop, are free of charge, with booking generally recommended via the official website. This choice reflects the festival's mission: to make great music accessible to everyone and to root it deeply in the cultural fabric of the Piedmont region.
Castagnito is located in the Roero area, in the province of Cuneo, just a few kilometers from Alba. By car, it can be reached via the A33 Asti-Cuneo motorway (Alba exit) or the A6 Turin-Savona motorway. The nearest train station is in Alba, which is connected to Turin and Asti.
The concerts for the Castagnito stop are held at the Teatro Comunale, in the town center.
Free admission. Booking is recommended on the official website www.roeroculturalevents.it.
