The monthly farmers' market by Slow Food Rome in Testaccio
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The Collective Earth Market is a recurring event promoting local agriculture, hosted by Slow Food Rome in collaboration with the Collettivo Gastronomico Testaccio at the Città dell'Altra Economia, located in Largo Dino Frisullo, Rome. Created to bridge the gap between producers and consumers by eliminating large-scale distribution intermediaries, the market has become a go-to destination for those seeking good, healthy, and sustainable food in the capital and throughout the Lazio region.
Each edition brings together a dozen small farms, oil mills, wineries, breweries, and artisans from Rome and Lazio, all selected based on the three pillars of Slow Food: good (quality and flavor), clean (respect for the environment and seasonality), and fair (equitable prices for both buyers and producers). Stalls feature seasonal fruits and vegetables, legumes, sourdough bread, dairy products, honey, preserves, extra virgin olive oil, traditional cured meats, wines, and craft beers, alongside various Slow Food Presidia from Lazio.
The Collective Earth Market is not just a place to shop; it is a space for community building. The direct relationship between growers and buyers allows visitors to learn the story behind every product, understand the short supply chain, and support small-scale agriculture. Alongside the stalls, the Collettivo Gastronomico Testaccio often serves dishes prepared with market ingredients, while educational food workshops for adults and children are frequently organized.
The setting is the Città dell'Altra Economia, housed in the former Mattatoio (slaughterhouse) of Testaccio, a neighborhood historically tied to food culture and traditional Roman cuisine. Here, the market engages with the identity of the district and the city's commitment to promoting local agriculture, from the Roman countryside to the villages of Lazio. It is an event that combines conscious shopping, social connection, and the rediscovery of regional flavors.
The market is held monthly, usually on a Sunday, with continuous opening hours throughout the day. The schedule may vary from season to season: we recommend checking the upcoming dates on the official Slow Food Rome channels before heading to Largo Dino Frisullo.
The Collective Earth Market continues in 2026 with its proven formula: a monthly Sunday event that brings a dozen local farms and artisans to Largo Dino Frisullo. Stalls feature seasonal vegetables, cheeses, bread, honey, preserves, oil, wines, and craft beers, along with Slow Food Presidia from Lazio.
The 2026 calendar is published periodically on the official Slow Food Rome channels: we recommend checking them to find the exact Sunday of the scheduled event.
