When the capital slows down due to the heat, the Testaccio district becomes the go-to spot for those staying in the city. Testaccio Estate occupies the grounds of the Città dell'Altra Economia, located within the former Mattatoio on Largo Dino Frisullo. For over three months, it transforms the Campo Boario into a vast, open-air urban cultural space. An 80-square-meter stage, lighting towers, food corners, and bars create a small Roman summer village, open almost every night.
A Multidisciplinary Program
The festival's strength lies in its variety: not just one genre, but a blend of artistic expressions coexisting in the same space. The program ranges from singer-songwriter music to Roman rap, reggae, and independent rock, along with DJ sets that energize the hottest nights.

Testaccio, the Popular Heart of Rome
The Testaccio neighborhood, in the 1st Municipality of Rome (Lazio), is one of the city's most authentic districts. Born around the former slaughterhouse, it still retains a genuine, working-class character, filled with historic trattorias, the famous local market, and a lively nightlife. The Città dell'Altra Economia, housed in the former industrial complex, is the ideal venue for a festival that prioritizes social connection, culture, and accessibility.

For the summer of 2026, the Città dell'Altra Economia in Testaccio returns as Rome's major urban cultural space. The calendar, spread from June to September, blends live music, DJ sets, comedy, open-air screenings, and discussion forums, with a special focus on accessibility and the neighborhood's community spirit.

How to get there
Metro Line B, Piramide stop, just a few minutes' walk away. Alternatively, Roma Ostiense station (regional trains and Leonardo Express to Fiumicino airport) and numerous bus and tram lines serve the district. Those arriving by car will find several parking areas in the vicinity, but public transport remains the most convenient option.
Admission and Hours
Most events are free; some concerts and special events are ticketed via TicketOne. Generally opens at 6:00 PM, closing at 1:30 AM on Fridays and Saturdays, and 12:30 AM on other days. Check the official program at testaccioestate.it for nightly updates.
