Ten nights of free open-air cinema at the Parterre in San Giuliano Terme
Cinema under the Stars is the open-air film festival that transforms the Parterreโthe renovated green space in the center of San Giuliano Termeโinto a grand cinematic arena every summer. Promoted by the Municipality of San Giuliano Terme, in the province of Pisa, and programmed by the historic Cinema Arsenale, the event offers ten completely free evenings, providing a wonderful opportunity to gather outdoors during the warm July nights.
The lineup is designed to satisfy every type of viewer: from major auteur films and beloved Italian comedies to animated screenings dedicated to children and families. This variety makes Cinema under the Stars an intergenerational event, attracting cinephiles, families, and curious locals to the Parterre for a pleasant evening under the stars.
The choice of the Parterre is no coincidence: this space, returned to the public after a major redevelopment project, has become a landmark of the local summer. The festival is part of the broader Estate Sangiulianese (Sangiulianese Summer) calendar, a program of cultural and entertainment events through which the Municipality enlivens the area during the summer months.
Free admission is a hallmark of the event, reflecting the municipal administration's commitment to making culture accessible to all while creating moments of connection and community in a charming setting. Cinema thus becomes not just entertainment, but an occasion for social interaction and community life.
Nestled at the foot of the Monte Pisano and famous for its thermal waters, San Giuliano Terme is a Tuscan destination that blends nature, wellness, and tradition. Attending a screening at Cinema under the Stars is also the perfect excuse to discover this village just a few kilometers from Pisa, set in a hilly landscape rich in history and hiking trails.
The 2026 edition takes place from July 4th to 13th at the Parterre in San Giuliano Terme, with evening screenings at 9:30 PM and free admission. The program alternates between great Italian and auteur cinema and screenings dedicated to families and children.
