Cinema by bicycle between Palmanova, the Bassa Friulana and the Collio
There is a slow, ecological, and poetic way to experience cinema, and it has the shape of a bicycle. Cinebike Festival is the Friulian event that intertwines films, two wheels, and rural landscapes: screenings under the stars in an arena designed to accommodate spectators and bicycles — an authentic pedal-powered drive-in — alongside bike tours, cine-naturalistic walks, meetings with directors, shows, and concerts.
The star-shaped fortress of Palmanova, a UNESCO heritage site, is the main venue: in Piazza Grande, the arena hosts the audience arriving on foot or by bike, to watch films comfortably outdoors. The screenings use the Solar Cinema system, powered by solar energy, consistent with the event's sustainable spirit.
Cinebike doesn't stand still: it starts from Cervignano del Friuli, stops in Aquileia, debuts in Udine, and reaches the Collio, between San Floriano del Collio and Capriva del Friuli. Each stop is an opportunity to cycle through the fields of the Friulian plain and the vineyards, alternating cinema, music, and tastings of local zero-kilometer products.
The program alternates feature films, documentaries, and the events of the Cinebike Shorts competition dedicated to young authors under 35, with the presence of guest directors, meetings, and discussion moments. A formula that has won over the public and makes Cinebike one of the most original proposals of the Friulian summer, capable of combining a passion for auteur cinema with that for sustainable mobility.
The fourth edition of Cinebike Festival runs from June 10 to 20, 2026, across Friuli Venezia Giulia. The opening is in Cervignano del Friuli, the heart of the event is in Palmanova (June 12-16) with the drive-in arena in Piazza Grande, while new stops include Udine, Aquileia, and the Collio. Curated by Giulia Battaglini, set design by Michele Bazzana.
2026 Program (to be updated on official channels):

How to get there: the stops are easily reachable by bicycle along the cycle paths of the Bassa Friulana and the Collio. Palmanova is served by the A4 motorway (Palmanova exit) and the railway. In case of rain, the Palmanova screenings move to the Gustavo Modena Theater.
Admission: all events are free admission.
Tip: bring your own bicycle to fully experience the pedal-powered drive-in and participate in the bike tours.
