Christmas in Ostuni, promoted by the Municipality of Ostuni together with the DUC Città Bianca, is the major widespread event that brings the Apulian village to life throughout the festive season. With the Bianco Natale (White Christmas) project, the historic center of the White City, in the province of Brindisi, dresses up in lights: illuminations, scenery, and projections create a path connecting Piazza della Libertà, Piazzetta Sant'Oronzo, Viale Pola, and the whitewashed alleys.
The heart of the display is the famous Christmas tree in Piazza della Libertà, the starting point of a luminous itinerary that crosses squares, panoramic terraces, and the area around the Co-Cathedral. Each edition features a central theme, reflected in the lights and multimedia projections that turn the village into an open-air stage.
The Villa Comunale Sandro Pertini becomes the realm of Christmas markets, featuring wooden chalets, local handicrafts, gift ideas, and gastronomic products from the region. On weekends and holidays, the park also hosts shows and light installations, in a route designed especially for families.
The musical program is one of the event's highlights, with free concerts in Piazza della Libertà during the days between Christmas and New Year's Eve. Alongside live music, there is contemporary circus, with tents and shows dedicated to adults and children alike, Santa's House with readings and workshops for children, nativity scenes, exhibitions, and street art performances.
Thanks to the combination of free events, the intimate atmosphere of the historic center, and the unique setting of the White City, Christmas in Ostuni has become one of the most beloved winter events in Puglia. The festival promotes local commerce, craftsmanship, and popular traditions, offering residents and visitors weeks of widespread events between the ancient village and the Villa Comunale.
Ostuni can be reached by car via the SS16 Adriatica; the Ostuni train station is on the Adriatic line (Bari-Lecce), a few kilometers from the center and connected by urban buses. The nearest airports are Brindisi-Casale and Bari-Palese.
Events are concentrated in the historic center (Piazza della Libertà, Piazzetta Sant'Oronzo, Viale Pola) and in the Villa Comunale Sandro Pertini.
Most events, including concerts in Piazza della Libertà and the markets, are free to attend; some contemporary circus shows may require a ticket. It is recommended to check the official calendar of the Municipality of Ostuni.
