Christmas in the heart of Vallagarina

Christmas in Nogaredo, affectionately nicknamed 'Snowgaredo', is the festive celebration that brings the small Municipality of Nogaredo to life. Located on the right bank of the Adige River in Vallagarina, just a few kilometers from Rovereto in the heart of Trentino-Alto Adige, the town dresses up for the holidays for over a month, from early December to Epiphany, offering a rich calendar of events designed for families and the entire community.

The ice skating rink

The heart of the event is the ice skating rink set up in the town square, behind the Town Hall. Typically open throughout the holiday season from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, it features a refreshment point managed by local associations and groups, ensuring food and drinks are available during opening hours. It is a wonderful opportunity to skate outdoors among the mountains of Trentino, made accessible even to the youngest visitors thanks to friendly 'penguin' skating aids that help children take their first steps on the ice.

The Christmas market in Brancolino

The traditional Christmas market is held in the hamlet of Brancolino. It opens on select Sundays and Fridays in December, generally following religious services. Among the stalls, you will find handcrafted goods, decorations, and local specialties, all within an intimate and authentically village-like atmosphere.

Events for young and old

The event program marks the countdown to Christmas with numerous activities dedicated primarily to children:

• the arrival of Saint Nicholas, welcomed with tea and hot chocolate;
• the arrival of Saint Lucy, often accompanied by her donkey and musicians;
• the arrival of Santa Claus with gifts for the little ones;
• the Christmas Eve Midnight Mass, followed by mulled wine and panettone for everyone;
• the arrival of the Befana on January 5th, which ideally concludes the festivities.

Art and culture

Alongside the festivities, the event often features an art exhibition in the evocative Sala delle Vele of the Town Hall, open on weekends and certain holidays with free admission. It is a perfect opportunity to combine the Christmas spirit with the discovery of local cultural heritage.
