Abruzzo wines showcased in the alleys of Ripa Teatina

In Ripa Teatina, in the province of Chieti, nestled in the rolling Abruzzo hills that slope down toward the Adriatic, Goblets and Traditions in the Village is a food and wine festival that puts wine and its cultural significance at the forefront. The event takes place in the Porta Gabella area, the historic heart of the town, featuring its characteristic suspended walkways that evoke the ancient medieval wooden paths along the fortifications: an evocative setting that becomes, for one evening, an open-air lounge dedicated to local labels.
The festival's format blends culture, storytelling, and tasting. It begins with a guided walk through the town center, filled with stories dedicated to wine and its traditions, before diving into a symposium that explores the world of wine from multiple perspectives. The evening culminates with tastings guided by AIS sommeliers, who lead the public on a journey to discover the grape varieties and wineries of Abruzzo.
Wine is paired with traditional Abruzzo cuisine: dishes such as sagne e ceci (pasta with chickpeas) and porchetta, along with boards of local specialties, complete an experience designed to showcase the food and wine identity of this corner of the Chieti province. The participation of local wineries makes Goblets and Traditions in the Village a showcase for Abruzzo viticulture, from Montepulciano d'Abruzzo to Trebbiano, among the most representative denominations of the region.
The event is promoted by the Vivere l'Abruzzo association in collaboration with Quella Notte al Convento, Alcua (Association for Free Culture in Abruzzo), and AIS Abruzzo, under the patronage of the Municipality of Ripa Teatina. It is a grassroots project driven by the commitment of local organizations, with the goal of highlighting regional excellence and bringing life and people back to the alleys of the historic center.
Goblets and Traditions in the Village is held in Ripa Teatina during the month of September. The dates for the 2026 edition have not yet been announced: we recommend following the channels of the Vivere l'Abruzzo association and the Municipality for updates on the program and schedule.
