Porcari becomes the capital of childhood for a day, featuring workshops, shows, and games
The Children's Village is one of the most anticipated and beloved events in the calendar of Porcari, a town in the province of Lucca, Tuscany. For one full day, the town center turns into a vast, open-air park designed exclusively for little ones: the town streets become spaces for play, discovery, and social interaction where children are the true protagonists. The festival's philosophy is simple and clear, focusing on what the community considers its future—the children—and promoting values such as inclusion, creativity, and sustainable development.
The heart of the event is Piazza Felice Orsi, but it extends along the main streets of Porcari's historic center, including Via Roma, Via Pacini, Via Marconi, and Via del Municipio. For ten consecutive hours, the entire pedestrian area comes alive with stands, stages, and attractions, offering families and children a continuous path of activities to enjoy on foot, in complete safety.
The Children's Village program is packed with activities designed to entertain children of all ages alongside their parents. Typical offerings of the event include:
All activities at the Children's Village are free and open to the public. The initiative is organized by the Municipality of Porcari with operational coordination by Demia and the support of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Lucca, alongside contributions from numerous local entities and businesses. Over the years, the event has become a hallmark of the Porcari community, capable of attracting families from across the Piana di Lucca and establishing the town as an authentic capital of childhood for a day.
The Children's Village is part of the Porcari Summer program and traditionally falls at the beginning of June, coinciding with the Republic Day celebrations. It is one of the first major events of the warm season in Porcari, an opportunity for local families to gather outdoors and for children to enjoy a day entirely tailored to them.
For the 2026 edition, the eleventh of the event, Porcari returned to being the capital of childhood for a day. On Tuesday, June 2nd, from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Piazza Felice Orsi and the streets of the historic center hosted workshops, shows, interactive games, and sports activities for children of all ages. The inauguration took place in the morning, following the institutional celebrations for Republic Day.
Among the day's attractions were the highly anticipated inflatable climbing wall, Disney characters, and stars from cartoons and video games mingling with the audience, and a closing evening show with a tribute to the Huntrix. The event, with free admission, was organized by the Municipality of Porcari with the coordination of Demia and the support of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Lucca, as part of the Porcari Summer 2026 program.
In case of bad weather, the event was scheduled to be postponed to Sunday, June 7th, with an unchanged program.
The event traditionally takes place at the beginning of June, with continuous hours from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM. In case of bad weather, the event is postponed to an alternative date, with the program remaining unchanged.
