A day of trail running at the foot of the Gran Paradiso
The Ceresole Reale Running Day is a major trail running festival held in Ceresole Reale, a charming town in the Metropolitan City of Turin, Piedmont, nestled at over 1,600 meters above sea level in the heart of the Gran Paradiso National Park. Here, between the famous artificial lake, high-mountain pastures, and the majestic backdrop of the Levanne peaks, running becomes a total experience, blending athletic exertion with the beauty of one of the wildest and most protected corners of the Western Alps.
The event's strength lies in its inclusive formula: a single day features both grueling tests for experienced athletes and courses designed for those taking their first steps on the trails, as well as mini-races for children. It is a format that transforms a skyrunning competition into a true village festival, where the entire community of Ceresole Reale and enthusiasts from all over Piedmont and beyond gather around a shared passion for the mountains.
Running in Ceresole Reale means crossing environments of rare purity: beech forests, larches, glacial streams, and panoramas that stretch up to the 4,000-meter peaks of the Gran Paradiso massif. The event, organized by the Corio Trail Running Team together with the Running Village Sporting Club 3 Levanne, promotes the mountain territory of the Canavese and its alpine identity, in collaboration with the local municipality and Park authorities.
To complete the experience, the day ends on a high note with the Beer & Music Fest, starting at 7:00 PM: beer, good food, and live music to celebrate together with athletes, supporters, and residents, in true mountain spirit.
The 2026 edition of the Ceresole Reale Running Day, scheduled for Saturday, July 4, 2026, confirms and expands the multi-distance formula that has made the event famous in the heart of the Gran Paradiso National Park. The races take place along the high-altitude trails of the Orco Valley, with starts and finishes in the village of Ceresole Reale, in the province of Turin.
The day offers challenges for every level, from the most experienced ultra-trailers to children, and concludes with a celebration open to the entire community.
To close the day, a party with beer, refreshments, and live music in the village of Ceresole Reale.
The precise start times for each race, detailed routes, and mandatory equipment are published on the official platform wedosport.net and on the event's Instagram channels.
The Gran Paradiso Ultra Sky Marathon (65 km, 4,400 m D+) is the major new feature of the flagship event, taking skyrunners to the foot of the Levanne peaks in one of the most spectacular alpine settings in Piedmont. For families and beginners, the 15 km Energy Trail and mini-races for children are available.
Ceresole Reale can be reached by car from Turin by driving up the Orco Valley along the SP460 (about 1 hour and 40 minutes). The road is scenic but mountainous: allow for sufficient travel time. In summer, there are bus connections from Cuorgnรจ and Pont Canavese.
Registrations and detailed programs are managed via the wedosport.net platform and the event's official Instagram channels. For information: [email protected], WhatsApp +39 349 5663857 / +39 345 1720006.
As these are high-altitude races, technical mountain clothing and the mandatory equipment required by the regulations are essential. Temperatures can be cool even in summer.
